[The voice announcement echoes across the square, and Connor frowns. He casts another long glance across the crowd of people, so many humans and androids alike, trying to catch her face. But even with his processing, he doesn’t spot her. He assumes she’s lost in the flow now, like a leaf caught in the rush of a river. Fighting against it would be too futile for her, not to mention unwise — Connor assumes that she’s likely going to find a place to watch the fireworks once they begin, and hope that Connor can find her when there’s less movement all around them.
He’ll go with that hypothesis for now, though it’s hard to tamp down the initial concern. He has no doubt that Ai can take care of herself, of course, but she’s new to this world and its experiences, and he doesn’t want her fretting during an event that’s supposed to be fun.
