This a post where I'll RP anything with you! Got a scenario in mind? I'LL DO IT. If you wanna chat IDEAS.GIF, contact me at sweethymns or my AIM (rainsweets). I also have LINE as maiscribbles. Have at it!
If you want. Mind you, I organized these already so don't make a mess.
[The old man, in the mean while wave to Lien letting her take charge while he goes off to take a break. He knows her well enough that he knows she can handle herself.]
[And that's all the invitation that Yusuke needs, as he sets the bag that was slung over his shoulder on the ground, then moves even closer to examine the paintings. He takes on a serious air, looking at each work critically, mumbling to himself now and again.]
The brushwork... all wrong... Is this...? Certainly not... [Etc., etc.
A few minutes later and Yusuke has sat aside two paintings, including the one she had just been talking about with the older man moments before. He stands to his full height again, looking at her.]
I would suggest that you peer closer to these two specifically. They are both dubious in their authenticity at best.
Do you have a trained eye for art? I cannot hope to claim to know all there is about the subject, but I am quite familiar with Japanese brushwork. There is something... off about these paintings. The application, the masterwork otherwise prevalent in the rest-- [He means the ones that are obviously legitimate.] Surely I'm not wrong?
[Hm. He wonders this out loud to himself, more than to the girl looking at him incredulously.]
What do you mean you "saw" who painted it? Such a thing is not possible.
[An odd explanation, but not one that Yusuke will really think twice about. He assumes that she misspoke, and leaves it at that.]
That's wise of you. I take it that means you'll be telling that elderly gentleman about how you've misinformed him? The two of you have some sort of... arrangement with each other?
Mm hm! I've helped him out before! He had sellers that tried to pull the wool over his eyes and it hurt his business. So he hires me out every once in a while when he wants to set up shop.
[She explains quite cheerfully, enjoying the new company. Even for someone who's outspoken like herself, Lien doesn't get to make new friends all that often.]
I see. That's quite admirable of you, though I would suggest that if someone is relying on you in such a matter, that you do your research more thoroughly.
[He doesn't mean it in a rude way, though he's often prone to saying what he feels any given time.]
Indeed I am. A mere student, to be certain, but when it comes to art, we are all but students perpetually growing and learning.
[He crosses his arms, actually taking this into serious consideration. If she's joking, then Yusuke doesn't seem to notice.]
Hm. [Well, he is feeling a bit peckish.] There's a ramen shop that has opened up nearby. I had thought to go there for lunch, as I'm curious if the taste is as divine as what others have been saying. Perhaps you'd like to join?
Ah, a lunch date? [He hums with amusement, almost laughing under his breath.] It's not often that I go out to eat with a complete stranger, but it appears that art has brought us together on this day. Who am I to deny it?
[weirdo.]
Just let me know when you're ready, and I will lead the way.
[A really big weirdo. Lien had half expected him to react with some indignation at the implication that this was a date, but maybe she's giving him too little credit.]
Well, my stomach's a-rumbling and I really hankering for some extra chasu in particular. Hope you know a good place!

[He raises a slender brow, just barely noticeable, then takes a step closer. Obviously not very deterred by any offense he's caused Lien.]
May I take a closer look at it?

Ugh, but I've examined them for long enough! I saw who painted it, it's the same person!
[Interesting she would word it like that.]

[This work is older than she is!]

Could've SWORN they're the same person. Maybe I didn't look deep enough...?

Don't worry about it! It's a little embarrassing that I have to be corrected, but I'm not immature enough to say I can't learn anything new.

Anyways, you're an artist?

You know... For someone who doesn't seem like a bad person, I can't help, but feel the condescension toward my supposedly sloppy work...
no subject
No, it isn't condescension. [He frowns; it isn't what he really meant to give off.] Rather, I would call it concern.
After all, it would be a shame for a mistake of yours to affect the offer of free ramen.

[Lien?? Putting responsibility on an unsuspecting high school kid? She's the worst.]

Sure thing! I'll just leave a message for the old man and tell him that I'm on a ramen date.
[lord save us]
I'll be in your care!
