[Ai calls his name out happily and takes his hand in both of hers as she pulls herself up to stand. Her hands squeeze his, looking just estatic.]

I really made it over!

[determinare]

[She's so happy. It's contagious, it makes him feel light and even more excited that she's made it through. Still holding onto her hand, his free one reaches out to pluck some grass from her hair.]

Yes. I had wondered if it would work, and I'm very glad that it did.

...You have some foliage on you.

[emotive]

Hm? Oh. Oops.

[She lets go of him so she can dust off the skirt of her dress and the crown of her hair.]

This time, it means I'll have to visit you as often as you visit me! It's only fair.

[determinare]

I look forward to it, of course. But first... introductions.

[He crouches down next to Sumo, who had been looking at everything curiously like a truly good dog. Connor pats his head.]

This is Sumo. You finally get to meet him.

[Ai turns her attention towards the giant St. Bernard dog that was possibly heavier than her. She gives it a once over...]

[And then she proceeds to squat down in front of Sumo and pet him on his head and his side with her hands.]

He's so cute! I've never seen this kind of dog up close... I should have bought some dog treats!

[She's so excited, gosh.]

[Sumo likes the attention so much that he decides to… lie down in the grass, softly panting. He’s a very laid-back dog, apparently.]

I think you brought more than enough with you already. Besides, Hank has plenty of treats for him. You can give them to him when we return home.

[He gives Sumo another pat on the head.]

[Sumo is even going to get a big hug as Ai wraps her arms around his neck before looking up at Connor.]

Are we going to stay at Mr. Anderson's place then? [She's so formal before even meeting Hank, geez.]

Are you sure I won't be a bother?

I’m sure. You’re welcome to stay with us, if that’s what you’re comfortable doing.

[HE HASN’T EVEN TOLD HANK YET…]

How long were you planning to stay?

[emotive]

[rip hank She lets go of Sumo after one final pat and stands up.]

I was thinking I could just stay one or two nights, nothing longer than that. It really depends if you have a plan for what you want me to see or do with you.

[She had wanted to see the technology of this alternate Detroit and in general a chance to see other androids. But other than that, Ai wondered if Connor had something in mind.]

[determinare]

[He straightens as well, holding onto the loop at the end of Sumo's leash.]

There's a lot to do in this city. I imagine you wish to see the technology on display; this is decades ahead of your time, of course.

Plus, there's shopping to do, food to eat. I thought you'd be very interested in the latter.

[emotive]

I definitely want to try that out, but I want to be considerate of you too.

[Patting him on the shoulder.]

Otherwise, I take too long and start wanting to eat more and more and more...

Shouldn’t you consider this a sort of vacation? You should eat as much as you like; enjoy the new locale. The new world.

I won’t even count your calories in these next few days. ...Well. Mostly.

[emotive]

[The luggage moves over to Ai's hands as she mock pouts at him.]

Mostly? So you're trying to joke again?

If you go overboard, I am obligated to say something.

[Amusement flickers in his eyes.]

[True. What are friends for after all, if not to watch your calories? Ai smiles at him for his humor and pats her luggage.]

We could drop this off first and... I would like to meet Hank. How much did you tell him about me that he didn't really believe? I mean, besides existing in the first place?

[determinare]

[He offers Ai Sumo's leash (she can walk him on the way), and deftly bends down to pick up all her luggage in one fell swoop.]

None of it.

[Simply spoken.]

After all, if you didn't exist, I was obviously just making up the whole story. Crossing worlds was a very hard sell -- but he'll have no reason to deny it now.

[emotive]

[Taking the leash, she clutches it to her chest before setting it down to walk Sumo normally.]

Well... Now that makes me feel a little nervous. [Like meeting the parents for the first time? Is this what it is?]

I hope he isn't too shocked.

[determinare]

No need to be nervous. It’ll be fine.

[And so they walk! Connor will make small talk on the way, which he seems to be less awkward about when he’s around her.]

I’m glad to see you’re feeling much better.

[emotive]

[It helps that she's probably just as awkward with small talk with anyone else, BUT Connor right now. Weird how that works.

She gives him a thumbs up when he remarks about her health.]

I'm up and feeling 100%! I had a job to fulfill before I came to visit you, but other than that, it didn't tire me out.

[It seems like the natural thing to ask, since she mentioned it. Meanwhile, Sumo walks ahead of them at an indolent pace, not in a particular hurry to go anywhere.]

[Ai is taking the time to look at her new environment and see if there are any signs of the advanced technology that differentiates this world from hers. In the distance, she sees the stop light and squints at it as she replies to Connor.]

Yes, it did! I protected a caravan of some medicines that would have been poached by other unsavory parties. It wasn't too hard, but it did require me to be pretty awake.

[She will find that this part of town is not really as advanced as she might expect from a sci-fi film. The stoplight is strangely designed, of course, more sleek and modernized, but the housing looks similar to the suburbs she might see in her own world.

There is, of course, the occasional strange, automated car and taxi passing by. And across the way, on the other side of the street, an individual or two with flashing LED lights on their temples, going about their own business.

They both stop briefly at the light.]

That sounds exciting, yet still dangerous.

[She glances at the obvious androids with their LED lights, but then looks away.]

[He comments as he turns his head slightly to watch the pair of androids walk by. He then focuses on the street ahead. The light indicates that it’s safe to walk now.]
