Don't say it like that! That's lewd! You're going to to make me think funny things!
no subject
How is it... lewd? Ai... do I really look like someone in a state to say something lewd right now?
[A beat.]
Your mind is just in the 'gutter'. That's the saying, isn't it? The gutter.
no subject
If you hadn't noticed mouths are sensitive... Like... You know??
[And at that remark about her mind being in the gutter Ai groans.]
Is that it though...? Am I the pervert...?? But I'm not putting fingers in anyone's mouths...
[these two are idiots]
no subject
And because Connor is drunk, and it's the easiest argument to make:]
Yes. You're the pervert.
no subject
[It's probably the booze but she's so insistent and she shoves his shoulder with both hands this time; she's kind of childish like that.]
I don't take temperatures with my fingers!
no subject
[OOF, SHOVED. RUDE?
Connor twists his body to look at her, hair mussed and thin locks of it falling across his forehead.]
-isn't perverted. It's a necessary form of gauging whether or not someone is ill-!
no subject
[The expression on Ai's face softens, matching her voice. She reaches out to play with Connor's hair and tugging strands of it between her fingers.]
When you're so sincere like that, it feels unfair.
[It's unfair how she can't argue with his logic and it's unfair that it makes her like him a lot.]
no subject
He closes his eyes briefly, leaning just slightly into her touch. Ai is comforting, at least, in a different way than what he's used to. Hank is direct, gruff, his care stark and straightforward. Ai is gentler, softer, easy to depend upon -- even if her gesture is something as childish as tugging on his hair.]
What's unfair about it?
no subject
Ehe. I'm just being a sore loser, I think. I don't know how else to put it into words. Um...
[She taps her cheek with her other hand.]
What I'm saying is... I think I like you even with your flaws? Or maybe I like you because of them? It's really confusing and I'm the human here! Or it could be I just confuse myself all the time because I feel too much and I get overwhelmed when I'm too happy or too much of... anything.
[There had been a delay of her noticing of how unwell Connor is looking and she takes another second to really look at him and then go, "Oh!" to herself.]
Oh, there I go again, talking too much about me. I can make you feel better, duh!
[Ai takes his face in her hands, patting his cheeks a few times.]
I'm going to cast my spell and make it all better!
I think. Hangovers are weird.
no subject
But he can latch onto the general idea. And respond in kind.]
I like you too.
[Simple as that, true enough Despite the flaws and oddities between them, what does it matter?
Connor closes his eyes again.]
Please make me feel better if you can Ai...
no subject
Got it. Just like before okay?
[Just like the first time they met, Ai does her best to wrangle up some focus and direct her psychic energies to soothe his physical pain.]
One...
[There's the first pulse. It transmits from her hands and one of them moves from his face so that her fingers can run through his hair, not unlike a massage of sorts.]
Two...
[For the second pulse, Ai's opposite hand moves to his chest to rid of the ache and lessen the discomfort caused throughout by the alcohol. And finally...
Her forehead is touching his, close, so close...]
... Three.
[The last pulse is made to settle the mind and clear it of its haze. She draws herself back, putting her hands in her lap and looking at Connor.]
Better?
no subject
Her touch, though, is still disorienting in ways that he cannot quantify. The very human pulse of his heart beats hard in his chest, even as her forehead touches his, and he lifts his eyes up to look at her. This only seems to make it worse.]
I think...
[Yes, better. And yet still afflicted.]
I think something is still wrong.
no subject
[Concerned, she scoots a little closer to examine him again.]
I thought that would take away the worst of it at least. Can you at least stand up and make it to the couch?
no subject
[He swallows, finding it difficult to process. Difficult to even put into words, and for some reason more so when around her. Connor inhales, then exhales. Feels the coolness of breath filling his lungs, and the following, quiet release of it.]
Sorry, it's nothing. I think it'll be fine.
[He looks at her again, smiling faintly.]
I'm sorry that our outing ended up the way it did.
no subject
[Ai has a happy giggle and in an easygoing manner, reaches out to ruffle Connor's hair before repeating herself again.]
Don't worry about it. It's not your best side to show as a human but we're used to be being embarrassed and getting back up again. Like, you keep making me feel funny and embarrassed and I think my heart beats fast around you too...
[Well, this is what we call a loose tongue...]
... But I'm resilient!
no subject
You-
[He might not be drunk any longer, his mind might be clearer than before, but that tips his world sideways for a moment, trying to think of what she means. What it means.]
Is that really how you feel?
no subject
[Ai tilts her head at him, still smiling.]
Well, I'm not lying that's for sure. You look confused Connor.
You're fun to be around! So that gets me excited.
no subject
But, eventually, he just lets it go.]
I guess that must be it for me, too.
[Okay, here comes an attempt at standing.]
It might be beneficial to call it a night.
