There's not much to tell. Ferelden has a reputation for being covered in mud and smelling like dog. I will concede that the former is mostly true, but I'm not sure about the latter. I moved to the Free Marches with my family about eight years ago, and I really don't think it's any less brown there than in Ferelden. I never noticed any dog smell there either, though Marchers don't seem to care for dogs as much as Fereldens. If it smells like anything, I'd say it has the faint but distinct odor of despair and bad temper.
