And despite the crowded nature of the S.S. Thor, she was lonely. The young queen supposed she wasn't the only one; there were others like her, from different places and times, totally out of their comfort zone.

There's a girl. A masked girl with long dark hair and a black and gold patterned dress. Pretty, but it's seen better days. She's sitting down, arms around her knees and staring intently outside, as if she wants to escape from her captors who are currently discussing amongst themselves.]
"If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it. This one will bring a fortune after we tell 'em what it can do!"
"Sure the cage will hold her?"
"It'll do it's job. It tries anything funny, it gets shocked to high heaven."
[The girl sits completely still, listening to the men. With the mask, it's hard to tell what kind of expression she's making, but she can't be happy whatsoever.]

Well, Question had been called worse things than "obsessed". Fortunately, he worked with people who dealt with the unusual on a regular basis.
There's the sound of shattering glass as a small round capsule flies in through a window, bouncing once before exploding in a flash of light brilliant enough to illuminate the entire inside of the warehouse and temporarily blind every single one of the thugs inside. If she's similarly blinded she'll still be able to hear the sounds of combat, the flapping of a cape as Superman dives into action, the whoosh of Batarangs before they collide with their targets. But the first thing she'll see is a faceless man in a trenchcoat, hands in his pockets as he seems to ignore everything happening behind him (which is a lot). ]

Screw Arbor Day
A dormant tree demon had awakened in this city and while it was a beautiful sight to see (dark aquamarine trunk with streaks of crimson and some purples and flowers that had a white-blue glow), it was a nuisance. An apocalyptic nuisance, but let it be said that the Emerald Witch was good at dealing with these kinds of messes.
Granted, the city was now covered in huge tree roots where citizens had fallen under the spell of the flower pollen and were captive within the large roots. And there were more trees, with white-blue flowers stalking about the city, growling, dark, and generally unpleasant things all around. Amelia's stalking one of these baby tree demons, while on a roof of a building.]
On the one hand, I could burn it. Or get an axe... But I do want to collect one of them, they'd be nice in the greenhouse-- Okay, focus, focus!
[Scholarly curiosity still got in the way of altruism sometimes.]

Haunted Mansion get!
The best thing about Peter’s current lifestyle is how it took him to the very best places.
And by the very best, we mean the absolute worst.
And by the absolute worst, we mean this goddamn mansion is the creepiest place ever.
And by creepiest place ever, we mean oh my god what the hell was that sound Peter didn’t scream you screamed.
The mansion might have been nice once – tasteful, understated, and yet still it somehow would have screamed wealth – but that time had long since passed. Now, it was more or less a ruin, invaded by alien weeds and dust so thick that it was basically a mist. The family who owned it was once a clan of information brokers, but at some point its members started dabbling in the collection of alien artifacts – and after that, who knows? They disappeared, and the house was left to fester.
Somewhere in this rotting, molding, vine-infested expanse is a datacube filled with information about yadda-yadda-yadda-blah-blah-blah (Peter zoned out at that point in the briefing, admittedly), and somehow it was important. Or at least, important enough for the buyer to offer one million credits.
As Peter moved his flashlight around what was once the grand foyer, he realized he should’ve been more suspicious about that exorbitant offer. Too late now, though. ]
I dunno, man. I really don’t think this place has enough of that horror movie vibe goin’ on. Gold star for effort, though.
This is going to be beautiful
So yeah, maybe space got her skeptical. She's not even gonna try to even comprehend the "how." The "why" would be nice though. Like, why are there haunted space mansions? Why is she in one AGAIN? And why is she caught up with a man who thankfully is 100% human and was at least helpful towards the fellow Earthling.]
I've been in a haunted house before. Like, it was legitimately haunted and everything.
Guess right now it's round two, 'cept millions of light years away from Earth.

[So says Abbie in a relatively dingy, but still lively bar on a populated planet somewhere in the galaxy. She's trying not to stare at the varied locale, ranging from humanoid, feathered, furry, scaled, and horned aliens. Some are pink, some are yellow, some are neither! Sci-fi back on Earth had been on to something all along.
The bartender slides down two large glasses of alcohol of some sort and Abbie hesitantly accepts.]

[Alien bartender shoots her a dirty look before attending to other customers and Abbie looks away trying not to be so conspicuous.]

[Lien Kha's mage benefactor, may not have been the most straightforward person (most magi never were much to Lien's irritation), but she didn't completely keep Lien in the dark when it came to some mage affairs. The fanatical search for the Root, attempts to achieve True Magic... Lien wasn't quite sure about what all of those truly meant even to this day, but it explained a lot about their nature to her. Knowing that much was enough. The young woman didn't want to have anything to do with magi and their problems when she had enough of her own. But one could not go through life wishing for peace and quiet without being rudely disturbed.
The benefactor warned her of this; a normal life is a luxury to people with power and true to her words, Lien's daily routine had been interrupted three nights ago when she encountered a strange looking man wielding a dangerous and most likely magical weapon; he had probably seen better days. She could have walked away. She could have ignored him and went on, uninterrupted and unflappable. At some point, she had convinced herself that she did not have genuine sincerity and she wanted it to be true.
7:30 AM. The sunlight in Fuyuki is pale, but bright. In one of the many artificial looking buildings of the Shinto area, one building houses a girl who has gotten up and heads downstairs to the kitchen, stretching her dark gloves so they fit snugly around her fingers. Before preparing breakfast, she adjusts her cat eye glasses and turns on an old radio cassette player: The artificial world is gradually filled with color and the sound of warmth.
She concentrates on chopping vegetables for a light salad. Usually there is no one around so she is used to pondering aloud to herself...]
Mn. It'd be a shame if he ditched last night. I mean, I bought more food than usual...

Fire, maybe— a sharp pain in his chest, blood, losing prana. Something about unreasonable requests. Magis, Masters. Despite the lack of clarity, he has a feeling that he's done his part; that somewhere along the way of there and here, he's played himself out. How's that for vague endings?
Also predictably, though, he doesn't dwell on it any more than he needs to, choosing instead to take it and bound forward with it anyway, as he's done for so many things in his life and not-life. For now, his relative freedom suits him fine.
And for now, he's also completely fine with creeping up on his tentative benefactor (bad habit) and leaning over her shoulder to see what she's making. ]

[It had been one of those nights, the kind where Ai Thao was sure everything had gone completely and utterly wrong. The job given to her by the teacher she looked up to had been simple; go to Fuyuki, get in contact with Lien so that they could both investigate a specific type of irregularity that had been occurring within the leylines.
"After all, if it's a distortion of sorts, what better person to send than a Mystic Eyes user who specializes in it!" Sensei gave a jolly laugh as if it was a decent joke. That wasn't quite how it worked, but Thao would still be able to weigh in on the situation, regardless.
Thao arrived in Fuyuki, late at night and was planning to call Lien after settling in. But nights in Fuyuki City are like walking into a dream; you never know if it was a dream or a nightmare. She felt the wrongness down to her very bones as the mana in the nearby leylines began to pulsate. The moon hung high up in the sky and she hurried towards the source of the disturbance. When she arrived at the docks near the sea, that's when she saw them; shadow like monsters, appearing from the cracks.
What happened next was a blur. She held them off for a few minutes. But the longer she stayed, the more seemed to appear and overwhelm her. Blood was spilled and she desperately called out with her heart to not be alone and to overcome...
The world felt warm.
The young woman in the bed slowly opens her eyes as if she has returned from the dead, rather than a deep sleep. The transition is silent almost stealthy like. The ceiling is wooden and slanted, just like a cottage.
Ah. He said it was a cottage. She thought idly to herself. Of all things to first think about in the morning... But it had to be it right? This particular cottage was hidden away in a corner of the foreigner's district of Miyama Town. Sensei said it was something he bought back then just in case he needed a humble, but still lovingly furnished place to stay that wasn't in America or England. Still, who had brought her here and put her under the covers?
Thao grunts and sits up against the bed stand, trying to recollect her thoughts, not quite noticing there's someone else in the house as well. ]

Protecting his liege is, of course, the duty of a knight, but there's still the principle of the thing; rummaging inside his Master's pockets, for any reason, is still an invasion of privacy, and Diarmuid is prepared to apologize for any offense his actions may cause.
On top of that, his audacity to warm the house and use its tools could possibly be an offense on its own, but he's taken it upon himself to do so: a pot of tea is brewing in the next room, simmering on low heat to avoid whistling. Maybe he's done too much, how embarrassing... A knight's job isn't to play nanny, after all.
He stands straighter on his resting point against the wall when he hears Ai Thao groan, heels turning on wooden floorboards as he moves to face her properly. Look at this guy, he tries so hard. ]

[Not that Fenris has any inkling as to how refined her palate is. Thankfully, the restaurant standing behind him caters to a multitude of tastes, even if the reviews hovered just a bit above 'mediocre' (or, at least, that's what Hawke told him). By the time Fenris left an audio invite for Lien, he'd thankfully had the name of the restaurant memorized as well as what the sign looked like and also which dish sounded good at the time. With an unfortunate lack of pictures on the menu, ordering anything else would prove a task nearly impossible without broaching the whole illiteracy debacle.]

Well, it seemed to be a self-fulfilling prophecy when Lien finally mentioned the existence of her "twin." Ai Thao had appeared on the S.S. Thor with some pomp and circumstance since Lien was more or less ecstatic to see someone from her world
also all the explanation and timeline stuff was there too yadda yadda.The first order of business was Ai being introduced to the people Lien made friends or acquaintances with over the years on the ship and it more or less went well even though it's really weird seeing an identical person with Lien's with a completely different personality...
Right now, Ai's at one of the many gardens on the ship, admiring the alien flowers and trying not to make trouble for anyone. She hasn't really gathered up the courage to say hi to anyone else yet.]

His pace slowed even more when he spotted a familiar figure poking around at the flowers. Every movement that figure makes is registered with his keen eyes, which narrow in concentration. It's not Lien-- she seems to have the uncanny ability to find him first whenever they meet, and the demeanor is all off.
So, he manages to reach one conclusion. Even if he's not a social butterfly by any stretch, it'd be better if the young lady, even if she possessed powers of destruction, had an ally of some sort. Dangers lurked everywhere, after all, and he couldn't be sure if she had the fortitude to actually hurt a potential threat. From their very brief prior meeting, he sincerely dobuted it.]

Getting in past the fields and illusions was more effort than it was worth (so he told himself).

Definitely misdirection. [He scowled at the compass before returning it to his pocket. It was clever of them to make it a gradual change the deeper into the forest you went. By the time he'd realized, it was too late. He was thoroughly lost.]
Arrrghhh! [He shouted his frustration at the overcast sky, barely showing through the thick canopy of trees.] How am I going to get back?
[He then turned his glare on to the back of his right hand, and his expression softened slightly. He added in an undertone,] At least you'd be useful at times like this. Idiot.

Lien's not sure why Shakespeare entered into her head, but it seemed appropriate seeing as how the forest that made up the outskirts of Fuyuki City had a dreamlike atmosphere that could befuddle any normal passerby. Thankfully in this instance, she's not normal, but neither is she happy about it.
She had heard about the Castle and wanted to investigate with her Servant; perhaps there was even a rift that they would need to seal up. Instead Lien found herself separated from her companion and while she's not outwardly panicking, she's definitely a little upset.
For one thing, it's so BORING to talk to herself now.]
Tree, tree, another tree... Ugh, am I seriously going to have to deal with this for the next few hours??
[She could always use a Command Spell... But those were for emergencies. Lien could sacrifice some time in order to preserve those. And hey, just her luck there's another person in the distance? She squints and then walks closer to where Waver is and stops at a distance in case it's an enemy.]

It was a story that probably only had significance to the people living in this island country. The rise of delinquents and violent gangs. Multiple murders. Twisted limbs. An unknown and sick murderer. All of this culminated with the destruction of Broad Bridge and the cause of the damage was never discovered nor was there an exact reason for its ruin. July 1998 was a memorable month for the people of Mifune and while conspiracy theories and speculation was rampant for a while, like all things, it cooled down and the memories faded away in the minds of the people who were not involved.
The cause also faded away into obscurity. The only way to pay for what she had done was to live with the burden she had suddenly found herself with. July 1998 would be the ghost that would haunt this young woman who by all means should be dead.
But she was alive.
She was in pain.
She will probably always hurt.
But she knows that hurting and pain is what made life worth living.
Asagami Fujino can't see.
She can't see, not very well anyways, as her captors found out quickly enough. It was probably why they decided to snatch her away from her family after they found an opportunity presented in the form of her walking out into the empty hotel lobby late at night as she tried to find the staff that were conveniently not there to assist her in her time of need. Fujino was taken completely and totally by surprise, knocked out before she can even let out a noise as her cane clattered on the ground.
She can't see, but when she comes to, she can hear the other girls, some from the same hotel. They were crying, whimpering, one of them praying to God. Oddly enough, Fujino's first thought was how strange the throbbing pain in her head felt. It was foreign, but it was there. She woke up so quietly that none of the others notice her. She gropes around and feels the solid metal wall. One of the girls bangs against the storage unit's walls, screaming to get out. Her pleas are met with derisive laughter and a loud kick, yelling back in a foreign language, the equivalent of, "Shut up!"
A fellow kidnapee finally notices Fujino and lets out a tired sigh of relief. ]
"O-Oh, you're awake... Thank god, I thought they might have killed you!"
[Fujino replies slowly and deliberately. She's thinking. Wondering if it's a good idea to draw upon her "sight" again... She offers the other person a serene smile despite the darkness inside the storage unit.]
I'm fine. I hurt a little, but I'm fine.
[The reply she gets is dark and devoid of hope.]
Won't be for long... Those sons of bitches, they're gonna ship us off to god knows where!"
[The connotations don't need an explanation. Fujino understands.]
... Is someone going to help?
[She could help. She could do something. Asagami Fujino is more than capable of retaliating against their captors. But 1998 still haunts her to this day and she knows that even if she did something, even if she threw herself into this with the best of intentions, it would not erase what had happened.
If anything, things could get worse.
What if she enjoyed it again?The girl shakes and wraps her arms around herself sobbing.]

... It's surprisingly normal inside; a surprisingly normal cafe actually. The interior is a warm mixture of red brick walls and sleek wooden floors and tables, along with comfortable looking sofa chairs and a large couch with a coffee table to accompany it. The ceiling is decorated with colorful hanging lanterns that cast interesting shadows on the walls and floors. A large black bookshelf sits next to the counter where there are various books and novels that have an age to them from past readers and customers. Behind the counter is the usual machines, bottles of syrups, jars of coffee beans, and teas that scream, "WE ARE A GODDAMN CAFE." The black chalkboards aligned on the wall are strangely empty except for a lavishly illustrated logo which can only be the establishment's name.
There's no other way to say it. This place is cozy.
It's empty right now, but soon there's a shuffle in the back and a young woman (she could be anywhere between 18 to her late 20s really; hard to say) with dark curly hair tied up into a ponytail walks out with a step ladder and a box of colored chalk, calling out to the back.]
Oren, I'm telling you, gluten free is in right now! You probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that and a regular waffle-... Oh!
