Don't touch--...!!
[Wait, too harsh. Too much. She calms down.]
Give me a minute to catch my breath. I'll be able to walk back.
[Stubborn? Yeah, probably.]
no subject
He wonders if she copped a feel, though. Did she see something about him? ]
Alright, alright, fine. But if you fall over, I'm carrying you back.
no subject
[A mostly non-response. Her gloves are put back on and she makes her way out of the park as quickly as possible.
▼
The rest of the walk home is non-eventful and Lien doesn't say a word about what she just saw. It's past noon by the time they get back. When she opens the door to her place...]
... Okay, I give up.
[Cue, flopping to the ground and rolling on her back so that she's staring up at the ceiling.]
no subject
You're as stubborn as a damn mule, you know that?
no subject
[A dry reply.]
I feel like my skin is still burning...
no subject
You want a glass of water?
[ he says this incredibly casually, but not without a hint of well-meaning under the languid half-smile; as someone with a huge amount of pride running under his easygoingness, it's a big thing for him to offer this up to someone he's, for all intents and purposes, just met. ]
no subject
[She turns her head towards him, with a surprised (perhaps even touched?) look. Lien nods.]
Yes please.
no subject
Glass of water, coming up.
[ And he makes good on that a few seconds later, when he sets said glass down next to her head. ]
no subject
[Lien doesn't get up, opting instead to dip her nearest hand inside the cup and taking it out so the water drips down from her fingertips to her face.
She's... not ladylike at all. This day spent with this Master is saying that much.]
Ahhhh. Better.
[She closes her eyes.]
What I saw in the park... It looked like it was mud. Like, maybe it was lava??
no subject
Lava?
[ he racks his mind for the knowledge he's been endowed with upon his summoning, and draws upon it. ]
Doesn't make sense, if there aren't any mountains around. Was it something that was summoned?
no subject
But it was enough to kill the people that used to live there... if that was the result of the last war...
no subject
[ He says it with no amount of cheerfulness, disdain tinging the corner of his voice. ]
That's some pretty ugly business. Can't say I'm too thrilled about the idea of that sort of stuff happening again.
no subject
[She sits up, stretching her arms.]
And what a waste of a wish.
no subject
[ Folding his arms, Lancer shifts his weight and settles against the wall. ]
They missed out on a nice steak dinner.
no subject
[Her laugh is gleeful and the melancholy vanishes.]
Clearly, the superior wish.
no subject
Hah! By the way, if that's what you're gonna wish for, make the dinner for two.
no subject
[She tries to sit up, but isn't really feeling it.]
... Sorry, dumb request from your Master here, but could you pull me up by the arms so I can stand? I really gotta sleep this off.
no subject
[ Leaning over, he pulls her up by the arms and then...
...hauls her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. ]
Where's your room, again? Upstairs?
no subject
Hey, what the hell!?
no subject
[ He opens a door...and it's just a hall closet. Hm. ]
no subject
[She could totally be more argumentative, but the fact that she got picked up so easily reinforces how... well, she's not an overall strong person. So she grumbles.]
... And my room is the door on the right.
no subject
[ Which he suspects he might have had to do... He finds the door in question fairly quickly, opens it without asking her if he can (rude), and then pops right on in there to deposit Lien on her bed. Best Servant. ]
Now take a damn nap, I'll go find some prana outside.
no subject
But....]
... Thank you.
no subject
You did good, kiddo.
[ And with that, he's gone: dematerialized, gone to sit out in the trees and soak up some prana from nature. ]

The next morning, Lien wakes up, showers, and changes into some casual clothes. She makes toast, leaving out a serving for Lancer and then with her hair still wet, she takes out a stack of old looking books - books on magecraft - and sits across from it as if sizing it up for an interview. ]
...
