Well excuse me? What's with that reaction now?
no subject
No, in fact, it's the same guy. You literally just described Diarmuid down to a tee.
[She groans into her hands.]
What did we get ourselves into, good GOD...
no subject
Geez, what did you get yourselves into? From what you've described, it's not at all like a regular Grail War.
...I wonder if Lancer has memories from the Fourth War and would recognize me.

Anyways, I guess that's the least of the many issues we're having here.
no subject
Yes, it sounds like you have a whole pile of issues. Remind me to not be around Fuyuki in ten years.
Assuming of course we get out of this forest sometime this year.
[Sigh.
Oh, which reminds him-]
Are you having troubles communicating with your Servant? Normally it would be possible to telepathically communicate with him and lead him to you.
[Another Einzbern forest thing? Or a messed-up Grail War thing?]
no subject
Oh.
I can do that???
[oh my god how has this person survived as a Master, what a miracle.]
Man, that would have helped a few times, but I guess the point's moot now.
no subject
Should he pray that this off-War doesn't have any battles? She'd be creamed if her Lancer got away from her. Like now.]
Yes, you can do that. If you're that completely inexperienced it might take you some time to even have a conversation though.
Listen, I was Rider's Master in the Fourth War. If you have any questions, you'd better make use of my experience while you have the chance.
no subject
[She looks him over once. Raises a brow.]
Seriously.
[The rudest]
no subject
YES, seriously!
Geez, you're lucky to even get to talk to a survivor of a Grail War, what with everyone usually dying in them. Not to mention the Wars being sixty years apart.

He stops walking and looks her directly in the eyes. His voice comes out low and hard.]
Yes. Miracles do happen. When your Servant is killed right before your eyes and you are left face-to-face with the most powerful opponent who fully intends to kill you too, and somehow you become strong enough in that moment to be able to survive it...
[He breathes out deeply in a frustrated huff and turns to keep walking.] I'll come talk to you after your War in ten years and see what you think then. If by some miracle you survive too.

... Man, she thinks. Did having Lancer by her side teach her nothing?
Not exactly. If anything, for all the positivity she found in the simple moments when they weren't in battle, Lien also noticed her negative aspects even more. Petty, needy, selfish, reclusive...
Of course those sort of things would hurt others.]
no subject
Sorry.
[Another new thing Lien found out about herself in the past few weeks is that she's bad at apologizing (it took her three days for her to talk to her own Servant and then another couple of days to apologize for her behavior).]
I don't know what happened in the Fourth War so I shouldn't be acting like a smart ass in the first place.
... Your thought of your Servant as your friend, didn't you?
no subject
(Waver should be glad that he gets an apology so promptly then.)When Lien apologies Waver meets her eyes and nods in acknowledgement. He's glad that she apologized. (He's not sorry for snapping like that- it had to be said.)
And as for how he thinks about Iskander...
He lifts his chin up proudly.]
More than that. He is my king.
no subject
[There technically more important questions to ask, but being able to learn about something like this seemed just fine.]
Sounds like someone I'd like to meet.
no subject
It would be a very interesting meeting, I'll give you that.
[He assumes a serious posture, crossing his arms.]
You know that the winner of the Holy Grail War gets one wish from the Grail. What would you ask of it?
[This is the measure by which he can tell if Iskander would like you or not.]
no subject
I don't have a wish, I don't have a wish, I don't have a wish...
She thinks about how she felt genuine happiness, the likes of which she never thought was possible before.
Don't wish, don't wish, don't wish...]
I don't know.
I know I want the War to be finished, but I don't have anything in me that can be called resolve.
[For someone who's perpetually audacious towards others, Lien is someone who also talks down to herself.]
no subject
Rider would say, "Too small!" [He does his best to make his voice loud in imitation of the huge man.
But then he turns to Lien seriously.]
But more than that, the Grail only selects those who have a wish. If you think you don't, plus you are lacking in resolve, it will be extremely dangerous for you.
no subject
[It's not that she doesn't have a wish. But she's been lying to herself because she knows the more she yearns for what she wants, she'll be in more pain than she would be able to handle.
Lien still remembers those cursed words that a certain person had said to her:
"There's nothing in you."
But now that the emptiness is being filled and Lancer had told her he never met anyone who had nothing who wanted so much like her...
She places her hand on another tree to make sure they're almost near a possible exit before speaking up again.]
Do you think that the more you wish, the more you'll suffer? What would you and Rider say to that?
[Maybe Lien just needs extra input
even though this won't be able to carry over but shhhh]no subject
Maybe it's all a vivid and memorable dream...][Waver gives that question due consideration, walking along silently for a while. Finally he nods.]
I think both of us would say yes. But Rider would unhesitatingly say that it's worth it. And even if it ends in ruin, don't regret what you've done. "I shall grieve, and I shall weep, but I shall never regret!" That is something that he did say. And I would agree with him.
The more we wish, well, suffering is a possibility, but so is great success. If you never wish for anything, you will definitely never move.
[He sounds rather wise for 19. Near death experiences and the horrors of battle will do that to you.]
no subject
She lets silence grow between them for a few minutes before replying.]
If that's so... I guess the wish I have is something I don't know how to put into words.
[A beat. And then she decides to be a bit more honest.]
My sister and I don't remember the first ten years of our lives. Whatever happened, I think I lost a lot of my feeling.
[If Waver's smart, he could connect the dots, especially about her Mystic Eyes and her manipulated Circuits...
Someone had ruined her life.]
no subject
He shakes his head slowly, taking that in.]
I suppose it makes a sort of sense that you can't put your wish into words then. But the Grail is reportedly omnipotent- it should be able to understand you anyways.
Speaking of miracles, I think it's amazing you have the personality you do having experienced something like that. It's really commendable.
[He means that sincerely, and he gives her a small but honest smile.
He then pauses for a moment, recalling their conversation earlier.]
What about what you said about 'even if someone can't remember, the memories are still there'? You experienced those ten years of your life and something about those experiences made you into the person you are, even if you can't remember them, right?
[He doesn't mean to pry too much, but on the other hand this is a very interesting circumstance.]
