Private AU/PSL RP, set in the Fate/stay night universe. Multiple Servants of each class are being summoned or are rogue and appear from mysterious rifts along with shadow-like monsters, threatening to tear apart this unstable and distorted alternate reality.

[Lien seems content to warm her gloved hands with her cup of tea and she leans forward, elbows on the table.]

Basically, it happened around the same time you first found the rifts, Ai. I got off the bus, it started raining, and I thought the area had an off feeling about it too.

That could be the reason behind my abrupt summoning. There was no formal ritual involved.

[ He says, from his vantage point against the wall. His own cup of tea is untouched, but he seems to relent halfway between his words and moves to sit down. ]
emotive: (A million ways to sing the blues)

[personal profile] emotive 2014-12-10 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
And our first encounter was also near a rift.

[Ai Thao, takes a sip of her tea, letting her mind settle.]

An irregular summoning and contracting is one thing, but those rifts are what worry me. It makes me wonder if the Holy Grail for this War is heavily flawed in its magic.
lansaigh: (7.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2014-12-10 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Probably. If it's not playing by the rules, chances are that something or someone's gone rogue.

[ Shoveling a good portion of that cake in his mouth, chewing thoughtfully. ]

Either way, this isn't a real Grail War, that's for sure.
psychometer: (Curious and curioser... is that a word?)

[personal profile] psychometer 2014-12-10 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Lien's finally cutting up the cake, giving an equal slice to both Diarmuid and Ai Thao before serving herself. She chews on a piece of fruit thoughtfully before adding:]

And this is why people like us aren't typically part of the ritual. For instance, do we even know where the Grail is supposed to appear once a victor comes out on top?

[A beat.]

There's the Church to answer to as well... [She makes a face.]

Which begs the question of whether or not there are other Masters who similarly have very little knowledge of the current standings. A particularly experienced magus would have detected the irregularities fairly quickly on.

[ He pauses to warm his hands, and then appends: ]

The overseer of this War would have known before anyone, I would assume.
emotive: (I've been the quiet one)

[personal profile] emotive 2014-12-10 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
We need to find this overseer then, shouldn't we?

[She pokes her slice of cake with a fork before deciding to take a bite.

... It's good.
]

Another thing we found discovered are Servants that have slipped through the rifts. There's no summoning and without a Master to anchor them, they depend on the leylines and the energy that emits from the entrances. It's just one problem after another.

[That gives Lien pause and she glances at Lancer over her cup.]

[ Cu rises a brow, finishing up the last of his cake before turning to Diarmuid to ask him if he's going to eat any of that— a light smile and a shake of the head later, Cu has another slice of cake in front of him. ]

Sounds familiar, yeah. That'd make us the lucky ones who found Masters to keep ourselves intact.
psychometer: (Did you try working the shaft?)

[personal profile] psychometer 2014-12-10 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
[SIGH. Lien sets down her cup looking fairly bothered.]

And that basically means a Servant would be able to latch onto a magus, whatever caliber they were as long as they have a supply of prana. But if it's not enough and they really did want the Grail, well. Then we get a Hans.

[YES SHE'S STILL GOING WITH THAT.]
onoir: (2.)

[personal profile] onoir 2014-12-10 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ Hans... ]

That seems to be the short of it. It seems the game is unfolding against our favor.
emotive: (So here we are)

1/2

[personal profile] emotive 2014-12-10 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Lien... have you tried "reading" the nature of the rifts? That is if you've encountered any in the past few days.

As for me I feel like... It's something we've seen before. Long ago.

[Ai's getting that weird feeling again. Maybe it was the past. But what was the past? She and her sister didn't know except for the moment they woke up. Wasn't that it...?]
psychometer: (But you didn't have to cut me up)

[personal profile] psychometer 2014-12-10 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
[And that's why Lien's hands tighten around her cup and she replies very curtly:]

No. I haven't seen a rift since, but we aren't near any major leylines. The temple would be a good place to look though.

And I can't say there's anything familiar about them. I can't remember anything at all.
lansaigh: (3.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2014-12-10 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ The two Servants feel a little extraneous in this conversation, but they're paying attention— even if Cu takes it upon himself to make fast work of Diarmuid's cake and look vaguely unsatisfied when the plates are cleared. ]

Hey. While you two have your women's talk, how about me and Handsome go have a friendly spar?

[ Cu... ]
psychometer: (Mister Sandman bring me a dream)

[personal profile] psychometer 2014-12-10 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, yeah. Ai looks dubious, but Lien blinks, tilting her head as she thinks about it.]

Can you guys spar without die harding a building like the one we were just in?
onoir: (19.)

[personal profile] onoir 2014-12-10 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately...

[ Sensible, honest Diarmuid cuts in, blithely amused. ]

...I think that would be unlikely.

[ god kids ]
emotive: (There's no place I'd rather be)

[personal profile] emotive 2014-12-10 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
This "women's talk" concerns you too you know... [This is mostly directed at Cu, but when Diarmuid cuts in, she's apologetic when she speaks up]

It's been a long night... Although I'm sure a battle between you two might be inevitable, we'll have to save that for another time, at least when we have more clarity as to what's going on.

[And while the Masters here might not put a hand on one another, well, that's why Servants are are there.

Lien, you haven't been using your prana sparingly like you usually do. You should rest

[Lien is mildly puzzled, but realizes... Yeah, she was doing a lot of magecraft. And of course Ai would be able to sense it. So Ai Thao stands up.]

We'll head back now. Maybe we can see each other tomorrow night. [Oh! One more thing]

Since you're both of the same class, it'd be confusing to keep calling you both Lancer wouldn't it?
lansaigh: (13.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2014-12-10 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ Again, there's a slightly underwhelming facet of all of this, all things considered, and it's ridiculous to think that he's giving his true name away outside of the context of a fair and equal fight... but there's no point, considering that Diarmuid already knows who he is, and vice versa. ]

The name's Cu Chulainn. He knows.

[ He jerks a thumb over towards Diarmuid, who responds in kind with his own name: a quiet, reserved "Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, First Warrior of the Knights of Fianna".

Man, they've been teaching kids to be polite since he died.

Sitting up in his chair, Cu watches Diarmuid get ready to leave, but he calls out to Ai:
]

Be careful about that shining face, little lady.
psychometer: (All I need is time)

[personal profile] psychometer 2014-12-10 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Ai predictably turns pink at Cu's remark. And Lien just goes "oooooohhhhhh."]

Diarmuid, huh? Well, at least we can't get confused now. Anyways, if anything comes up, call me. Or I'll call you.

[And when they leave, Lien just looks up at Lancer while finishing her cake.]

Still gonna call you, Lancer. I'm really used to it.
lansaigh: (10.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2014-12-10 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? That's fine. I got called enough embarrassing things today, "Lancer" is good.

[ A light slump in his chair, and he eases himself into his seat. ]
