So more like a mild example of how she usually acts. I honestly don't know what to do with her sometimes.
I'm glad she treated you fairly enough though. I'm sure in her own way, she was trying to be fair to you instead of letting it get to her.

[ A light laugh, and he finishes his drink. ]

[There's a hint of... something in her voice. Something sad?]
Her abilities are extremely useful compared to mine.
no subject
Though, acknowledgement of either shouldn't come at your expense.
[ Meaning, she's plenty capable, herself. ]

But Ai wants to take Diarmuid's words to heart, and to not put herself down needlessly. It's hard though.]
... Is it alright if I admit something that's somewhat shameful? I think at some point, I was jealous of her Eyes.
no subject
Jealous. How so?
no subject
She must have told you about how her eyes see projections of memories that are from places, objects, or people right? That sort of ability could help her recover so much lost knowledge and further herself as a magus.
After all, the night we met up with her, she already created a strong Bounded Field and defeated the person behind the kidnappings. Perhaps it was luck, but she learned so quickly.
[Ai laughs quietly, mostly at herself.]
It's not that I don't understand the implications of what it does to her. Those Eyes aren't natural. It's why I'm ashamed of feeling like this. It's not easy for her either.

[ Slowly, but with a sense of surety. ]
May I ask something forward, Master?
no subject
By all means, please speak your mind, Lancer.

1/2
I...!!!
no subject
No. It's as you suspect. We're not good at that sort of thing...

It isn't my place to tell you what you should do with your family. But all the same, I hope that one day, you two will reconcile what needs to be reconciled.
no subject
I hope so too.
[With some renewed vigor, she finishes her wine and then stands up.]
If anyone was going to tell me that... I'm glad it was you. Thank you, Lancer.

Your wellbeing is my priority.
[ —which he says as much, as he gets up. ]

[She pays and as they exit, she tilts her head at him with a somewhat teasing look in her eyes.]
But you know, as a Master, I'm allowed to worry about your well being too aren't I?
no subject
Do I seem so unreliable?
[ He hopes not. ]
no subject
I completely understand that you'll follow and obey me to an extent. [And she holds up an index finger; making a point ha ha]
But understand that I'm the type of person who looks after others, especially those who treat me well.
no subject
I see. Then I'll have to admit defeat.
[ Not only because he won't contest her judgment, but because he doesn't want to change her; far be it for him to try. ]
But let me apologize, Master, for my selfishness in keeping you safe— that, in doing so, you're obliged to look after me.
[ He laughs, though, brightly; Diarmuid Ua Duibhne of the Shining Face, who looks much younger when he's happy. ]
You're too kind.
no subject
[Good. The happiness puts her at ease. Although she's smiling at him before facing forward, it fades a little when he tells her about being too kind.
Not as much as you, she thinks.
Ai Thao knows how the story ended. Right now, the circumstances are different and that in itself was a blessing. She doesn't want him to return unhappy. She doesn't want to be the one to bring unhappiness to him. And if being his Master could be the best possible event that could happen to him right now, she'll do her best and let him play his part.
... But please don't die because of me.
The Master who did not have a wish to make upon the most miraculous of miracles has found her desire albeit one that could only end in very few ways, none of which were desirable in itself. ]
