Uh.
[ A. Century??? ]
—Does that mean you think I'm an old man?!
no subject
I wouldn't be wrong...

[ Gus... ]
no subject
[And with his age revealed, she can finally go over to him and ruffle his hair like he was some kid brother of hers! She was wondering why there was some big sisterly instincts in her when it came to Gus (well, some of it was big sisterly instincts anyways)]
Don't worry too much about it Gus. Both you and Claude look good for your age of over 200 plus years!
[IONA...]
no subject
No...my dream of being sexy, ruined... Ruined because of magical time elements!!
no subject
[Points to Oren who's currently cleaning dishes and ignoring Gus's idiocy and the wibbly wobbly time shenanigans.]
Oren here's around 500 years old! And still looking just fine!
[More than fine even, he's largely considered gorgeous to many
and he's not even human whatsoever but it counts??!]no subject
[ Also kind of unnerving?! Gus's eyes flick over to Oren, in appraisal. ]
Should I call him 'grandpa'...
no subject
Alright, so both you and Claude are staying over at my place then? Oren and I will get things ready in no time!
[YEAH, THAT'S IT CLAUDE YOU'RE COMING ALONG.]
no subject
If that's what his brother wants. ]
Very good. I'll be preparing myself mentally for the inevitable shock that comes with traveling a few centuries.
no subject
Should go smoothly. Iona will make rooms. Staying in our century should be safest. No one can come into the cafe unless Iona or I are here.
But first...
[Oren pauses as if deciding whether to go through with what he's about to say or not. And then he faces Iona and in his deadpan says:]
Jackie. Apartment is a mess. Leaving your underclothes and bra over the sofa again. Unseemly.
Inviting guests to an slovenly residence is careless.
[He's had enough centuries to learn when not to give a fuck. At the mention of her underwear in front of the guys, Iona takes the towel that was in her apron and throws it at Oren's face before running to the door, opening it and shutting it behind her.
The towel is stuck to Oren's face, but he doesn't bother to remove it as he turns to the Auberts.]
Give her a few minutes. Apartment should be spotless.

Gus almost spits out the water he'd poured for himself, and Claude has to turn his head to the side, politely, to stifle an incoming guffaw. Bless you, Oren, for giving the elder Aubert some great ammunition to work with....slovenly, huh. ]
Ah, you shouldn't have. We wouldn't have minded.
[ Claude... ]
no subject
[God, Claude. And somehow, Oren definitely expected that kind of reaction from Gus...]
How many people still searching? For Gus.
[Because Oren did notice Claude using those 1879 communicator thingies.]
no subject
[ Aubert Senior, who is exceedingly protective of his youngest— and ostensibly his only— son. Claude says this with an air of detachment, and glances back down at his muted communicator. ]
I think he's due for a bit of a vacation. Auguste?
[ Gus is still choking on air, and he holds up a hand through his coughing to mean 'sounds about right'. ]
no subject
[Oren repeats this slowly. It kind of brings up memories, but past the 1800s and more into the early 1900s with him and Berna in Paris. While spending time among the artists, writers, and actors, most everyone found the Crystalline Witch incredibly charming and desirable. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that half of Paris wanted to look for her too.
It's only a memory though. Right now, he knows that Iona is pretty deep into this mess as well although it would have been avoidable if his mistress hadn't taken a liking to the brothers.]
Iona's arm. Nothing like it. The people must be baffled.
no subject
[ A thought process he understands, but doesn't subscribe to. He sounds impartial about this, if slightly snide. ]
They'll also be looking for ways to emulate her strengths. They're desperate enough to want to buy me off, if that places things in context.
[ He's sure it doesn't— he hasn't explained— and that statement makes Gus pull a face, one between a frown and a grimace. ]
no subject
[Oren means this in more ways than one.]
That said. Won't return to 1879 then. She's capable, but will cause more trouble than it's worth.
[He glances at Gus briefly and then returns his gaze to the door.]
She will almost always help if asked though. [He has a feeling she might want to go back for various reasons. Curiosity. Wanting to keep the people she knows close to her.]
Don't ask much of her.
no subject
So he doesn't.
He grins instead. ]
I know, I know. I'm too old for her, anyway.
no subject
Honestly, the golem can tell that this boy had a good heart; too much for his own good. It was a shame really.
Oren stands up and heads over to the door.]
She should be done now.
[He opens it up and a small, but comforting room greets them. It's clean
no underwear in sight!and quiet and the sound of Iona walking across the floor can be heard.]"You can bring them in Oren!"
[He bows his head towards Gus and Claude, gesturing towards the apartment.]
Enter.
no subject
He watches Gus pick himself right up from where he left off with his excitement, powerwalk out of that door without so much as a backwards glance.
Claude isn't bitter: he never has been. This is the only way he can feel anything, really.
So he follows his brother, smiles wanly as he watches Gus dive into a pile of cushions and sound genuinely exhilarated. Admittedly, this is...new...]
Pardon our intrusion.
[ Ok damn this is nice...these lights?! He'll try not to stare. ]

For a place that was obviously not very large, the use of space and the sleek look of the furniture decorations just scream, "MODERN." And the wide window decorated by curtains leads to a view of the city outside and that includes the millions of lights from the buildings and cars that dot the streets and highways in the distance.
There's a hallway that leads to the bedrooms and from it, emerges Iona, out of her cafe uniform and wearing casual clothes instead, hair also down. She beams at Gus and Claude hands behind her back, obviously looking gleeful about introducing them to her time period.]
Welcome to the City of Angels in the 21st century! I think we're gonna have a lot of fun while you're here.
no subject
He's currently busy admiring the AC remote, resisting the urge to take it apart, when Iona comes back. ]
Hello, gorgeous. ♥
[ down, Gus. He reclines back on the couch, sinking into cushions with a content sigh. ]
My head's going to explode.
no subject
[Iona rolls her eyes, but it's obvious she takes Gus's greeting pretty well. Oren is going to the hallway to check on Iona's handiwork with magicking up rooms (it's rather customary between them seeing as how she has a long way to go as a spellcaster) so she hops onto the kitchen counter, dangling her legs while regarding the brothers thoughtfully, now that they're staying with her temporarily.]
Gus, try not to explode, I just cleaned up the apartment.
no subject
[ Excitable dog guy No.1. He jumps off the couch and zooms over to the window, oohing and aahing.
Claude hasn't moved too far from the door they came through, though he has a feeling that opening it isn't going to take him back to the cafe. ]
no subject
Nice view of the city though, right? My grandmother found this spot for me since I have to commute to the university I attend.
no subject
[ UWOOOOH THIS IS EXCITING!! And universities, too?! Gus is probably going to infiltrate... his eyes are shining. ]
This place is amazing! You're magic, the future is magic, everything is so...
[ a wave of the hand here, to indicate that he has no idea what word he's looking for but IT'S GREAT, THIS IS AWESOME. ]
