Iona's steps are light and careful since she's not used to wearing a gown, at least not one as fancy as this (she can keep it clean with magic, thank god).]
Is the ball going to start or did it begin already and everyone's just waiting for you?
no subject
It's started already, but the first ten minutes are usually people trying to scramble for drinks, anyway. We should get there right as Claude is trying to see himself out, actually!
no subject
[Kind of a shame really, she felt like giving someone some grief.]
Ah, of course, can't forget this...
[With her free hand, she points at her lips and a small spark of magic bounces off of it. When she opens her mouth, it's all French.]
How do I sound? I've been kind of working on a cover story, but I might as well start with being able to actually speak the language, right?

[ He says, with a hint of a tease somewhere between those syllables: comfortable heckling his half-brother when he's not there to hear it. ]
—And, whoa! That's perfect, ah... be still, my beating heart. How do you keep on impressing me like this...!!
no subject
We better hurry before Claude leaves and everyone gets all the drinks before we can, right?
1/2
[ GRIMLY: ] Never.
[ But!! It's a good idea to hurry up, so he picks up the pace, heading for the large meeting hall they've rented out for the party proper... ]
no subject
And, well.
He drifts out of the entrance hall, towards the exit...
...where he bumps into Iona and co., which he responds to with a raise of his brow and an almost reflexive 'pardon'...
...and, eventually, laughter. What a catch. ]
Ah.
My God, you three make a ragtag bunch.

A "good evening," would have just been just fine you know. On that note, good evening, Claude.
no subject
[ Is he 90% more pricklier than he usually is?
The answer is yes. ]
The dress is quite nice, though. Compliments to your tailor.

[Oren is taking a few steps towards the entrance, as if being on guard. Which he is. 100% of the time.]
Thank you though. It's weird, having to dress up like this, but I don't often get the chance to go all out like this.
I NEVER GOT A NOTIF FOR THIS?? IM SO MAD
[ Is he buttering her up? Maybe— he sounds a little more snide than usual— but the way he puts his hand over his heart and lightly bows his head is, in a way, somewhat sincere. ]
From me to you, then, mademoiselle. May this night be brighter by your presence to grace it.
and on the night my laptop gets shafted too sob
So what you're saying is that you're leaving even though Oren and I just got here??
come on mai laptop... u can do this
Precisely because Oren's here. I've served my purpose as tall and mildly handsome, I'm leaving my ticket in more capable hands.
[ suffer, Oren...suffer ]
tablet tagging it is until a miracle occurs
Think of it this way: because Oren's here everyone will focus on him and you can take a break from being insufferable and hang out with me and Gus here.
plays the Rocky theme song for you!!
I'll only oblige if Auguste is fine with me spoiling his night with my presence.
[ He has a feeling he wanted to be alone with Iona...just a hunch... that and the stupid politics of it all, but whatever. ]
no subject
Alright then! At the very least you can sneak back with us to the cafe to unwind for an after party refresher!
no subject
[ He has such high hopes... but he can tell that Gus is getting pouty and impatient, so he gives his brother the floor. ]
Go on, go on, don't let me keep you.
no subject
[ She looks happy enough with that answer and takes Gus's hand while waving to Claude. ]
Here we go! If the place goes up in flames you know who to blame.
no subject
Gus, on the other hand, has been strangely quiet this whole time, and remains that way for a few more seconds as he leads Iona inside the great hall. ]
—So! Phew, we made it. What an ordeal, huh.
[ Heads immediately turn to greet the trio, eyes on Iona as people start talking among themselves about who the young master's brought to the party tonight. ]
no subject
[Because now that there are eyes on them, Iona's beginning to feel... a little self-conscious. It doesn't show, but Oren is able to tell and so while Iona conducts herself with grace and grants a charming smile or two towards the other guests, Oren stands tall and composed, his usual troubled walk changed to a long stride as he walks behind Gus and his charge.]
I gotta hand it to you Gus. Whether or not I'm here, you're always the center of attention aren't you?
[She says this jokingly because. You know. The attention Gus gets tends to be mostly for his life oops]
1/2
Me! No no no no no, they're all looking at you, because you're so beautiful tonight!
[ He beams, because he knows he's not lying... ]
no subject
And everyone is looking at Oren anyway, I hope he trips into the punch bowl.
1/2
Hey, he can't help it! And for his sake, I hope there's no tripping.
Ah, speaking of which...
[Iona turns her head to look at Oren whispering to him in English.]
Oren, act natural!]
no subject
[Oren diverges from his path behind Iona and Auguste, paying no mind to the eyes that are on him. When the golem's eyes does settle on a group of people (mixed of men and women), he actually smiles, giving a nod of acknowledgement, his gaze slightly flickering as if...
And then he speaks, smoothly, and calmly, like a practiced gentleman of experience.]
Bonsoir. Thank you for having us tonight.
no subject
Gus, of course
looks butthurt. ]
Is that natural?! Is that natural for him?!
