[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

[ he holds out a hand for the notebook ] May I?

[Handing it over and then proceeds to put some of the other things back into the bag.

Dusky, meanwhile, has been... Rather quiet. Odd really, but she seems to be watching Warren and Amelia reaaaaaal carefully.]

[spellbent]

[ He jots down his number, and tosses the notebook on the end of the bed, since Amelia's still digging around in her bag. He glances at the kitten ]

You're being awfully quiet.

Mm? Oh! [Her tiny tail swishes back and forth as if she just realized she was being spoken to]

I'm practicin' bein' real quiet! I was good wasn't I?? [Amelia crosses her arms]

Dusky, do you know why my mentor said that I needed to bring you? He seemed to imply that your presence was important.

Oh, you mean the nice man? Mmmm... No! I don't know anythin' really.

[Amelia doesn't look like she's pleased with that answer]

[ He reaches over to scratch Dusky behind the ears ]

I guess it'll become apparent sooner or later.

Hehe. That tickles! [Amelia looks at this sight-- pfffff]

We'll see. There has to be a good reason for her. Maybe that means I'll have to be extra careful. [She sighs and mutters something about 'stupid cryptics]
