[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.
That wasn't going to do, not at all.
Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.
Come at her bros.]

Once he enters the alley, the portal closes behind him as if it were never there. HE frowns. There's something familiar about this place ]

She closes her eyes and envisions the green flame in her hand to glow brighter. No matter who or what it was, they would come to the Emerald Witch first. She'll decide how to deal with what's thrown at her.]

He finds himself staring for a very long few moments. It can't be. ]
... Amelia?

[The light is bright enough to reveal Amelia. The familiar red hair, the green eyes, and glasses--
But she's older. Noticeably so too. Longer legs, sharper facial features that made her look more stern if it was even possible. Amelia examines Warren looking a bit disconcerted.]
... It IS you! Huh. Go figure.

A short while later, he's showered and changed and comes outside to investigate. ]
What are you up to?
no subject
Amelia dear, have things gotten so dire that you HAD to place those hideous gnomes in your garden like a regular human? You have a better aesthetic sense than THAT.
Ainsley, this actually will make me look more normal if anything to everyone else who knows me. A young female English teacher who has no idea what to do with garden accessories? Charming! Eccentric, but charming. [Places the last one near the back door leading to the kitchen. The cats seem to giggle-- well a kitty-like giggle as they see Warren exiting from the house.]
Darling, you'll drive away more than just demons with those objects. Like, THIS handsome stranger. Warren was it? Cordelia told me ALL about you. Amelia allowed you near HER and you spent the night under the same roof? Stop the presses!
That's enough 'cattiness' out of you. [She dusts off her hands and nods to Warren] Extra emergency alarms. It's experimental actually. They should only detect demons and attack them exclusively. Don't want a random passerby-- or cat -- get injured.

I wasn't aware we were having a garden party.
[ He puts his hands in his pockets, and wanders over to the nearest garden gnome and nudges it with a foot ]
A shame we don't have a demon to test it out on.

DERP DERP NEW THREAD
It's also very quiet.
At least until a portal from another world rips open in the living room. Warren steps through with practiced ease, and turns beckoning for Amelia to follow. ]

Huh. I suddenly feel a lot smaller even though my place is theoretically just as large. But the difference is that you definitely have a more... Grandiose taste.
It's soooo big Miss Amelia! Look at all the furniture! I mean-- don't you worry Mr. West, I'm not gonna go shreddin' on any furniture! My claws stayin' right where they are cause I'm listenin' to Miss Amelia's orders!
no subject
[ he crosses the room to where a laptop is resting on a coffee table. He tuns it on and looks at the clock. ]
I'm off by an hour, but I managed to get us back here on the same day I left.
no subject
Depending on how long my studies go, I think I'll stay for at least two or three days.
Where we goin' to stay Miss Amelia? Will I be back in time for supper?
I'm sure your mother was informed about our little visit somehow. You'll be fine, I'm taking care of you.

TIMESKIP AGAIN
Of course, there's only so much time she could spend inside. She wanted to see the outside and explore the town see if there's any subtle difference that made this world different from her own (and not just because of magic). It's not as if Warren made that a no-no. Besides, she wasn't going to get into any trouble, at least not intentionally. And she wasn't going to leave Dusky alone in the house with the furniture at the mercy of feline claws.
So around town the redhead witch and talking kitten went. Dusky was quiet as instructed; she whispered every now and then much to Amelia's chagrin, but otherwise, they have not met with any strange looks except for glances at Amelia's
offensivelybright colored hair. She was grateful though. So far, so good, and no encounters with any weirdos.
The two are now at a nearby park, conveniently empty of most residents. Dusky has taken to walking in the soft grass, batting at some of the flowers and greenery until they reach a water fountain]
It's a nice place and all, but I was expectin' more Miss Amelia!
[Amelia's sipping a cup of hot orange blossom tea, purchased from a nearby coffee joint. She shakes her head at Dusky]
I didn't promise you an adventure Dusky.
I know, but-- Ah! I got wet again!
[The fountain water has splashed a now wet kitten. Amelia looks back and forth-- and well. This isn't a large-scale use of magic. It's very minor. She sits down on the edge of the fountain and rubs the kitten with one hand. A spark of warm magic helps dry the kitten up.
No one should be able to notice. Hopefully.]
LET'S DO THE TIMESKIP AGAIN??
So the tall, well-dressed man in a fedora crosses the park, hands shoved in his coat pockets. He does at least attempt to look friendly. ]
I've seen a lot of people in this park with their dogs. Cats are a bit rarer.
[ He has a slight accent- English- though it's clear he's been in the states for a while, because it's barely there. ]
IT'S JUST A JUMP TO THE LEFT
You meet all sorts of people throughout your lifetime. Bringing a cat to the park is hardly anything to drop one's jaw at.
[... Okay, that sounded almost mean oops. But oh well.]
AND A STEP TO THE RIIIIIGHT
No, I guess it's not. Magically drying it off after it gets wet, however, is.
PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HIPS
She puts on her hands on her hips and sighs]
I suppose if you noticed that, there's no use attempting to pull the wool over your eyes?
AND BRING YOUR KNEES IN TIGHT
BUT IT'S THE PELVIC THRUST!
THAT REALLY DRIVES YOU INSAAAAANE
LET'S DO THE TIMESKIP AGAIIIIIIIIN

MORE SHENANIGANS
There's a lot for her to think about. This Jacob Randall was a good person and here she was associating with someone who obviously... Well, NOT a good person. Probably the least eloquent way to put it. But she's not trying to get involved in anything. And she has no direct reason to dislike Warren since it frankly wasn't her business and... didn't she say she liked him? Maybe that was too soon. She sighs as she goes into her bedroom and rearranges some of her notes that she had lying around including some of the books she took out of Warren's library. Dusky is resting in the bedding provided for her looking... Under the weather. Amelia frowns as she examines the kitten.]
Dusky... Are you all right? You're usually more energetic than this. Is it the side effects of traveling...?
No... No, Miss Amelia, I'm all right. Just tired. And a little dizzy... I'm not sure why either! But I'll just sleep. When I wake up can we go walkin' around town again?
... Maybe. Get some rest.
[There's this nagging feeling in the back of her head as she talks to the kitten, but there's nothing to do for now.
She wonders if Warren's already back or if he's still out and about. He did say he would be back in a few hours and she had been outside for a while herself.]

Sooner or later, delicious smells are going to be wafting their way up ]
