[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

In that case you should be fine. Anyways, we shouldn't keep it waiting. [And walking right up to it without batting an eye]

If you say so. [ If nothing else, he has to admire her moxie. And maybe her ass as he follows her into the park. ]

[WHAT.

The emerald lights that were scattered throughout the town have gathered back into her right hand. The demon has white eerie globes for eyes and it can't seem to decide whether to jump her or shy away from the power she's wielding.

So instead it talks]

The Emerald Witch! We have heard that you have slain our brethren single highhandedly and yet you bring along another? You are weakening perhaps? We smell magic on him... It is your magic we want, but perhaps some more.... yes, yes, we shall feast tonight!

[Amelia rolls her eyes]

It's been ten years. How many times have I been over this with you? And let me guess... You consume several lesser demons to make this form. I've done all, but gotten rid of the last of you haven't I?

As for him, he's just passing through.

[spellbent]

[ IT'S A NICE ASS OKAY.

For his own part, Warren just laughs. Amelia could kick his ass from here to next Sunday- the last thing she needed was his help. ]

I'm looking for someone, actually. Tall fellow, a bit more corporeal. Wearing a coat. You haven't seen him, have you?

As for the demon its eyes seem to flicker]

We may have seen the one you speak of yes, but he is not our concern. We want the magic... Magic, magic, magic! It does not belong to you Witch!

It was given to me, if that's what you mean. [Runs her free hand through her hair.] Where did you last see the coat wearing demon? And I don't advise getting on my bad side by withholding simple information. I may not be the Chaos Witch, but I don't need to control you demons to get what I want from your kind.

[The green flame snakes up her arm glowing even more fiercely, almost blindingly so. The shadow bear seems to get the hint at least and it hisses]

The dwelling... Near your dwelling...!!

Hm. Good enough.

[spellbent]

[ He values his life too much to do that. :|

He quirks a brow at the demon- someone's got a one-track mind. Mostly, he'll let Amelia do the talking. She knows how to handle this, obviously. ]

I guess we're heading to your place after this, then?

Mm. Now that I think about it, I'm reminded that I left the stove on while making some tea. That's what I get for rushing. At least your demon can't get in the house. I wouldn't want him trampling on my roses.

[To the demon]

Thank you kindly for your answer. As a matter of principle however, it wouldn't do to let you loose in this town.

[And before it can protest, the flame around her arm shoots itself towards the demon looking a lot like a fiery jade dragon-- and it swallows up the shadowy bear demon, flickering for a few moments and then disappearing.

Amelia inhales and exhales deeply as if she tired. But only somewhat. She turns to Warren crossing dusting off her skirt and then her hands]

Well, that's that.

[spellbent]

That was... very impressive. And I don't say that often.

[recluserose]

... Thank you.

It has to be done quickly. They usually try to weasel their way out by striking a deal. Their services in exchange for their life. Usually isn't worth it though unless it's a deal with a demon lord.

Anyways, let's hope it was telling the truth about your demon. [Snaps her fingers several times until a green spark ignites in her hand, lighting up in the palm of her hand</small.]

[spellbent]

Only one way to find out, I suppose. Lead the way, since I don't know where you live.

And while they're at it, might as well strike up a conversation :V]

How... Long has it been since you last saw me?

[spellbent]

[ He purses his lips a little, thinking on that ]

A year or so. Alternate dimensions are funny like that.

So I've gathered.

My memory's a bit fuzzy, so I can't quite recall... ah. Something about a fire elemental?

[spellbent]

Ah yes. She set my house on fire. She's still alive and well, if you're wondering.

Harder than I anticipated, yes.

Does your demon have anything to do with this or is it just a side quest of some sort?

[spellbent]

"Side quest"? Is that some sort of RPG thing?

Well? Is it or isn't it? [SHE'S NOT GONNA ACKNOWLEDGE HOW NERDY IT SOUNDS BECAUSE SHE'S PROUD LIKE THAT.]

[spellbent]

I never would have taken you for an RPG nerd, Miss Steinbeck.

I tend to pick up the language from my students though.
