[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

It has to be done quickly. They usually try to weasel their way out by striking a deal. Their services in exchange for their life. Usually isn't worth it though unless it's a deal with a demon lord.

Anyways, let's hope it was telling the truth about your demon. [Snaps her fingers several times until a green spark ignites in her hand, lighting up in the palm of her hand</small.]

Only one way to find out, I suppose. Lead the way, since I don't know where you live.

And while they're at it, might as well strike up a conversation :V]

How... Long has it been since you last saw me?

[spellbent]

[ He purses his lips a little, thinking on that ]

A year or so. Alternate dimensions are funny like that.

So I've gathered.

My memory's a bit fuzzy, so I can't quite recall... ah. Something about a fire elemental?

[spellbent]

Ah yes. She set my house on fire. She's still alive and well, if you're wondering.

Hard to put out I take it?

[spellbent]

Harder than I anticipated, yes.

[recluserose]

Does your demon have anything to do with this or is it just a side quest of some sort?

[spellbent]

"Side quest"? Is that some sort of RPG thing?

[recluserose]

Well? Is it or isn't it? [SHE'S NOT GONNA ACKNOWLEDGE HOW NERDY IT SOUNDS BECAUSE SHE'S PROUD LIKE THAT.]

[spellbent]

I never would have taken you for an RPG nerd, Miss Steinbeck.

[recluserose]

[ICILY]

I'm not.

I tend to pick up the language from my students though.

[spellbent]

Students?

[recluserose]

High school teacher. Just thought I'd try it out for kicks.

[spellbent]

[ a chuckle ] You're a braver soul than I, then. I can't stand teenagers.

[recluserose]

Most people can't. I found that I have a lot of patience.

The experience might help once I make up my mind about taking in an apprentice, but I'm trying not to let the other witches and wizards try to predict my moves too closely.

[They're getting closer to her house and Warren might start hearing some very distinct noises... Very akin to noisy wind chimes coming from the direction they're going towards]

Huh. Something really is there.

[spellbent]

... Did the wind chimes tell you that?

[recluserose]

Mm. I have them all over my ceiling inside my house and enchanted each and every one of them.

[spellbent]

Does that mean it's in your house?

[recluserose]

Can't be. It has to be outside. The wind chimes usually set off once they figure out what's around my house.

[Hurrying up anyways, the house is almost in sight]

[spellbent]

[ He follows, fishing his gun out of his pocket again.

The demon is nearby, likely in a tree in her yard, if there is one. It's as Warren said- seven feet tall, and pitch black. It's eyes and mouth are red-orange, glowing as if they're filled with dying embers. A large pair of swept-back horns adorn its head, they glow faintly at the tips with whispers of hellfire. It's naked, aside from the trenchcoat, its whip-like tail dangles from the branch it's sitting in, twitching idly.

It hops down from its perch when they approach, hands in its pockets ]

My, my. Two for the price of one. You must be the Emerald Witch.

[ Thin wisps of smoke curl from the corners of its mouth when it speaks. It gives Amelia a surprisingly good-humored grin. ]

[Her green flame snakes up around her arm again, almost cautiously so as if matching her apprehensive mood as she examines the opposition]

Interesting. I didn't know my name would reach outside this world. [Glances pointedly at Warren]

[spellbent]

Don't look at me. I didn't tell him.

[ The demon laughs, coaxing more smoke from his maw ]

Your little friend at the park did. I told him he was free to your magic, if I could have your flesh when he was through.

Not that I expected that to pan out. He was a bit... shall we say, pitiful.

[recluserose]

And you're not I'm assuming? [Crossing her arms and the flame wraps around her shoulders instead]

Unfortunately, I would make a rather disagreeable meal. Many have found that out the hard way.
