[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

No, no, none of that. You're a guest.

[She disappears into the hallway for a few minutes and then comes back a while later]

I found one. It hasn't been used for a while, but I cleaned it up so it should be fine.

[spellbent]

Just how many rooms do you have in here?

[recluserose]

The number fluctuates since I add and subtract, but surprisingly less than you think.

Here, I'll show you to yours.

[spellbent]

[ He gets to his feet, and motions for her to lead the way. It seems he's been following her around a lot since he got here ]

[As they go down the hallway, there seems to be about perhaps ten rooms in total-- maybe. There is one particular room she's passing by where the door is slightly ajar and there's an odd glow emitting from it. There's a spherical object in there, something like glass that has something inside of it, vaguely shaped like some sort of flower...

Anyways. A few doors down later she opens up a room that has a dark red door to reveal a very well furnished room that has it's own fireplace, a queen-sized bed, and a bathroom with a shower and bathtub.

Never let it be said that Amelia isn't accommodating.]

[spellbent]

[ The flower does catch his eye, but he pauses only for a moment. It wouldn't do for him to go snooping.

He takes a look around the room and lets out a low whistle ]

Damn, Amelia. This is nice.

[recluserose]

I should hope so. Better than the couch at any rate.

[spellbent]

[ he actually smiles at her ] Thank you.

[recluserose]

... You're welcome. [Looking... sheepish. A bit flushed. It's just the alcohol, it's just the alcohol, it's just the alcohol]

[spellbent]

[ Part of him really wants to kiss her right now, but he can't tell if she'd get mad at him for that or not.

He settles for brushing a strand of her hair back behind her ear, mostly to gauge her reaction ]

[recluserose]

[She freezes up ever so slightly and suddenly she doesn't dare look him in the face. There's silence on her end until she speaks up carefully, sounding composed even if she barely looks it]

I'll let you go to sleep then.

[spellbent]

... [ he nods, withdrawing his hand. He doesn't dare push things, for fear of losing her as an ally ]

Good night, Amelia.

[recluserose]

Good night. [She turns around to walk away running one hand through her hair sighing a bit softly]

[spellbent]

[ He watches her go for a moment, then retreats into the room, shutting the door behind him. He kicks off his shoes, shucks his shirt and plops onto the bed with a sigh. ]

[recluserose]

[From outside, he can hear her walking down the hall-- she suddenly speaks]

I'm sorry.

[It's most definitely NOT directed towards him though.]

[spellbent]

[ He glances towards the door, frowning slightly. He waits for a moment to see if she says anything else. ]

[recluserose]

[There's only more silence and it's clear she's retired for the night.]

[spellbent]

[ Another frown, another sigh, and he tugs the covers over him. He manages to doze off after a while ]

[Morning comes and the town is slowly covered in sunlight. His room has a window, but since Amelia's house is surrounded by trees, there's only mottled light that shines through. It's about seven in the morning and from outside Warren's room there's a mingle of soft, but distinct sounds.

1) Windchimes.
2) Cats. A good number of them in fact.]

[ The sunlight barely registers, but the sounds eventually poke their way through and he stirs.

He gets up, pulls his shirt back on and goes to wash his face in the bathroom. It occurs to him that he might need a change of clothes, but he figures he can take a tour around town while Amelia is at work.

Eventually he pads his way out of his room to investigate. ]

[Amelia's sitting at the kitchen counter, pouring over several newspapers spread out across the surface. She's holding a really large mug of coffee and sipping it as her eyes fly across the pages. The smell of freshly brewed coffee lingers in the air, bitter and warm.

There's at least four cats- a completely black and slim cat, a grey one, an orange striped one, and a pure white kitty. More cats are heard, but they mostly come from outside. Amelia looks up when she hears Warren exiting and nods politely]

Morning.

[spellbent]

Good morning.

[ He makes his way to the kitchen ]

I didn't know you had cats.

[recluserose]

[She sips her coffee] I don't.

[And then the striped cat starts speaking in a feminine voice] Oooooh? Is this the guest all the girls were talking about? This one looks... How do humans put it?

[And then the black cat speaks up]

Tall, dark, and, something or other. He's a strange one though.

[spellbent]

[ He glances at the "cats" then at Amelia ]

... They talk. Of course they talk.

[recluserose]

[The white cat retorts indignantly] And if we do? Forgive us for not being of the DUMBER sort of felines.

[Amelia shrugs] He's not from around here girls. [To Warren] Being the only witch in this area doesn't mean just demons. Sometimes the company just wants somebody equally abnormal to talk to.

[The stripped cat speaks again] Oh, yes we may have our feline camaraderie to socialize with, but it can get dreadfully boring complaining to each other about humans and the Guild doesn't allow us to open our mouths in front of the NORMAL ones. Hm, you ARE a wizard aren't you?
