[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

Come at her bros.]

[ It's just lying there in the crater, smoke curling off of its still form.

Warren jogs over, but he's careful to keep his distance in case it's "flame on" again. ]

Is he alive?

[recluserose]

I don't know. Let me check.

[The emerald flame splits and turns into two swords-- one of them propels itself to impale the demon through the shoulder]

[spellbent]

[ It's alive all right. It's eyes snap open and it lets out an ungodly screech, rattling the windows of the nearby houses.

Warren clamps his hands over his ears. ]

Jesus.

[recluserose]

I didn't mean for it to hurt THAT hard. [Yes, yes she did.]

You still need him don't you?

[spellbent]

Yes pl-- [ he barely gets the word out when a pillar of flame erupts from the crater. It lasts only a moment, and when it clears, the demon is gone ]

Ah, hell. He's run off again.

[recluserose]

[Letting out a sigh of frustration, dammit my GARDEN-- the rose bushes are burnt, and not to mention her poor tree.





But it's all better once she waves her hand and her property is bathed in a low green light-- and everything is mostly restored]

I hate it when they cause property damage.

[spellbent]

[ is there nothing she can't do? ]

You never cease to amaze.

[recluserose]

Mm.

Was that thing really just sent to eat you? And I won't be seeing it again I hope?

[spellbent]

I doubt it'll come back here. I've never seen hellfire actually run from magic before.

[recluserose]

So that's what it was? Made my skin prickle, that's for sure.

Then again, it was dealing with... Potent magic. More potent than most admittedly.

[spellbent]

I sort of figured. Is it prying too much to ask how you came to be that powerful?

[recluserose]

Of course you'd be interested wouldn't you?

[spellbent]

Can you blame me?

[recluserose]

[She doesn't speak for a moment until she answers clearly in a way that says she doesn't want to elaborate ] I was lucky.

[spellbent]

[ ... oh bah. Well, Warren is nothing if not patient. He'll get it out of her eventually ]

All right, all right.

... I feel like I owe you a drink after the mess I've caused.

[recluserose]

[Dammit she loves alcohol and the suggestion seems to lighten her up.]

Well, it's only eleven and there is one bar I know of that should still be open.

[spellbent]

Then, as seems to be the norm right now, lead the way.

[recluserose]

I DO live here.

Let's take a shortcut.

[And by shortcut, she means enveloping the both of them in some green light... and teleporting to the outside of said bar :V]

[spellbent]

[ WHOA. He's never teleported before ]

--- That was some shortcut.

[recluserose]

No teleporting where you're from either?

[Might feel a bit of a tingly sensation then after that. She's looking right and left to see if there's anyone she knows that's around. The bar they're in front of is rather small and it's named "Red Divine"-- The lights are dim and low and it has a cozy feel to it.

And it also plays old music.]

[spellbent]

It's not something I've ever done, no. My tricks are limited, remember?

[ he takes a look around, giving a little nod of appreciation for the atmosphere. ]

So, a table or at the bar?

[recluserose]

[Already seating herself at the bar] This should do. Besides there's someone I know here-- Ah.

[She gestures at a redheaded boy that looks to be in his early twenties, who glances towards the two when he notices their arrival. His eyes are red, almost unnaturally so and his demeanor is curt]

Evening Aiden. Are you the only one working tonight? [He nods although he gives a suspicious glance at Warren]

[spellbent]

[ Warren just gives the boy a flat look. Clearly he gives no fucks about what this kid thinks. The eyes are worth noting though, but he logs away any theories for a later time ]

[recluserose]

[As if sensing the tension in the air...]

Play nice you two. [This Aiden boy doesn't like you already Mr. West 8| But at least he's not the talkative type as he slides a drink menu towards Warren and he just starts on Amelia's usual-- as he's working Amelia's got some other questions]

Mr. West, does that demon have a name? I need it for future reference just in case.

[And she seems fine talking about this business in front of Aiden who frankly looks like he's heard stuff like this before-- so he's minding himself for the most part]

[spellbent]

[ Warren shrugs, accepting the menu and perusing it thoughtfully ]

It probably does. I just don't know what it is. It didn't exactly introduce itself.
