[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

[ He blinks a couple of times, then gives a sheepish laugh ] You may want to work on your delivery.

I thought I was being obvious, but then again I don't sound like someone who would joke.

[spellbent]

You don't, I'm sorry to say. But I guess that is something we have in common.

[recluserose]

[Setting down her drink so she can take off her glasses and wipe them with a napkin]

That's almost a frightening thought.

[ a laugh ] Only almost?

I can reassure myself that at least I'm a woman and you're a man so that's one great difference right there.

[spellbent]

Is this your attempt at humor again?

[recluserose]

... I was partially serious? [Aiden calls out]

I think she's partially drunk.

[spellbent]

[ He glances at Amelia's empty glasses, then at Aiden, arching a brow as if to say "Ya think?" ]

Don't quit your day job, Amelia.

[recluserose]

I'm not even on my sixth glass yet.

[spellbent]

... How many glasses do you max out at?

[recluserose]

Hm. Past six is pushing it.

[spellbent]

Well, at least you know your limits.

[recluserose]

I think I was called a functional alcoholic at some point.

[spellbent]

Is... that supposed to be a compliment or an insult?

[recluserose]

Considering who it came from, I think it was a backhanded compliment.

[spellbent]

Six glasses hardly makes an alcoholic. If it were six bottles, I might have to worry about you.

[recluserose]

There's hope for me yet then.

[spellbent]

Just don't overdo it. I'd rather you still be conscious by the end of the night.

That's kind of you.

[spellbent]

Just don't tell anyone. I have a reputation to uphold.

[recluserose]

Your secret is safe with me, don't you worry.

[spellbent]

Thank you. [ he finishes off the rest of his drink, and almost looks like he's going to order another, but decides against it. ]

You know though, I just remembered; I said ten years ago that if you ever came back, I'd serve you tea.
