[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

Come at her bros.]

Now this makes things bothersome because I can't just fucking kill him.

[ Warren snarls and brings his gun up, firing three quick shots at the demon, who leaps out of the way. Warren sketches out a quick spell, that slams the demon back against the tree. It smirks and scampers up the trunk and into the foliage ]

God dammit.

[recluserose]

[Haha, WHOA Amelia didn't think he'd lose his cool so she jumps a bit and adjusts her glasses as she incredulously looks on and steps back as Warren casts his spell]

Now, that's a different matter altogether isn't it?

How hard can it be? Killing him I mean? Besides, I want him out of my garden.

[spellbent]

If I kill him, I'll never know who sent him. I need him alive.

[ THAT'S FRUSTRATING, OKAY.

For its own part, the demon just laughs, and the entire tree just bursts into unnaturally red flame- a stream of it bursts from the branches, headed for Warren and Amelia.

Not that Warren doubts Amelia's ability to protect herself, but he knows hellfire when he sees it, and hellfire is like acid to magical barriers. He practically bowls her over, knocking her out of the way. ]

[recluserose]

[DAMMIT THIS SHIRT WAS NEW NOW IT'S GOT GRASS STAINS-- she rolls over after being knocked out of the way letting out a cry of surprise. I mean who wouldn't be?

Her own magic, the green flame that surrounded her is hissing at said hellfire, but it acts quickly and flies towards the demon to surround it, increasing in size like a green ring of fire]

[spellbent]

[ The hellfire actually dims a little, shrinking away from the green flame. The demon, now glowing red like the hellfire, hisses like an oversized angry cat.

Warren tosses another spell at it while it's distracted, and it goes flying back out of the tree as though it was hit my a freight train. It cashes in the next yard, landing with enough force to make a small crater, flame extinguishing on impact. ]

Ouch.

[She stands up to dust herself off and then snaps her fingers so her magic can fly over to loom over the demon and ensnare him if need be]

[spellbent]

[ It's just lying there in the crater, smoke curling off of its still form.

Warren jogs over, but he's careful to keep his distance in case it's "flame on" again. ]

Is he alive?

[recluserose]

I don't know. Let me check.

[The emerald flame splits and turns into two swords-- one of them propels itself to impale the demon through the shoulder]

[spellbent]

[ It's alive all right. It's eyes snap open and it lets out an ungodly screech, rattling the windows of the nearby houses.

Warren clamps his hands over his ears. ]

Jesus.

[recluserose]

I didn't mean for it to hurt THAT hard. [Yes, yes she did.]

You still need him don't you?

[spellbent]

Yes pl-- [ he barely gets the word out when a pillar of flame erupts from the crater. It lasts only a moment, and when it clears, the demon is gone ]

Ah, hell. He's run off again.

[recluserose]

[Letting out a sigh of frustration, dammit my GARDEN-- the rose bushes are burnt, and not to mention her poor tree.





But it's all better once she waves her hand and her property is bathed in a low green light-- and everything is mostly restored]

I hate it when they cause property damage.

[spellbent]

[ is there nothing she can't do? ]

You never cease to amaze.

[recluserose]

Mm.

Was that thing really just sent to eat you? And I won't be seeing it again I hope?

[spellbent]

I doubt it'll come back here. I've never seen hellfire actually run from magic before.

[recluserose]

So that's what it was? Made my skin prickle, that's for sure.

Then again, it was dealing with... Potent magic. More potent than most admittedly.

[spellbent]

I sort of figured. Is it prying too much to ask how you came to be that powerful?

[recluserose]

Of course you'd be interested wouldn't you?

[spellbent]

Can you blame me?

[recluserose]

[She doesn't speak for a moment until she answers clearly in a way that says she doesn't want to elaborate ] I was lucky.

[spellbent]

[ ... oh bah. Well, Warren is nothing if not patient. He'll get it out of her eventually ]

All right, all right.

... I feel like I owe you a drink after the mess I've caused.

[recluserose]

[Dammit she loves alcohol and the suggestion seems to lighten her up.]

Well, it's only eleven and there is one bar I know of that should still be open.

[spellbent]

Then, as seems to be the norm right now, lead the way.

[recluserose]

I DO live here.

Let's take a shortcut.

[And by shortcut, she means enveloping the both of them in some green light... and teleporting to the outside of said bar :V]

[spellbent]

[ WHOA. He's never teleported before ]
