[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

If there's one thing anyone can discern about him, he likes 'interesting situations.' I suppose after living past 1000 you get bored easily and make your own fun. It's the only thing that explains why he took a normal human girl as an apprentice.

Also, he has a way of... Finding out things. I'm sure he knows you've been here twice already.

[spellbent]

Old boyfriends, mentors, demons. You really only have to deal with the latter if you came to visit me.

[She blinks]

... Is that an invitation I'm hearing or is that just me?

[spellbent]

Do you want it to be an invitation?

[recluserose]

Well, to be honest I never heard of anyone inviting someone on the premises that they would only have to deal with demons with the potential to spew burning hellfire.

[spellbent]

I doubt he'd bother me with you around anyway.

[recluserose]

How convenient. I'd make a good bodyguard as well.

[spellbent]

That's not the only reason I keep hanging around, honest.

[recluserose]

What other reason would there be then?

[spellbent]

... I like you, Amelia. There are precious few people I've ever been able to say that about, most of which are long dead.

[ he chuckles ] You do seem a little shocked.

[recluserose]

[Thinking of what happened last night-- she sighs] I have some trouble gauging your sincerity you know. I rightfully had my suspicions when I first met you.

[spellbent]

I'm nothing if not honest, but you have to ask the right questions.

[recluserose]

... If I were to go to your world, do you think I'd have to take any precautions? Especially since witches of my caliber aren't common?

[spellbent]

I doubt it. Just don't draw any attention to yourself.

[recluserose]

Not that I would, but what would happen if I did?

[spellbent]

I can think of at least one person who would come knocking at my door, and he's someone I would rather not have to deal with while I've got company.

[recluserose]

Feel like telling me who that would be?

[spellbent]

Jacob Randall. My mentor's grandson.

Hm. Well, I haven't lived here and kept my secret safe for almost two decades for nothing.

[And a waiter comes to take their orders]

[ Ah, right. Food. He'll place his order. Perhaps ask for a bottle of wine if they do that kind of thing here. ]
