[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

No, it's-- [She pauses. And then Amelia reaches up to pat him on the arm.

It's likely he's ruined things, but he really is perfectly honest if asked the right questions. She asked, and now she knows. ]

I'll probably head back to my world tonight. You don't have to come if you don't want to.

[This situation and the person she's dealing with is different from what she's used to 8(]

I still do. The question is what I can bring with me. Or rather should...

Pack a bag, at least. Unless you want to have to go shopping.

One bag should suffice. And I'll be able to find my own place too, or make my own.

[spellbent]

... I have a spare room, Amelia.

[recluserose]

... Alright, fine.

Am I allowed to make it bigger?

[spellbent]

Just what kind of house do you think I live in?

[ He is loaded. Filthy stinking rich. His house is huge. ]

So that's a no with the magic then?

[spellbent]

[AHA. She's not a studious and intelligent witch for nothing. She feels like he's hiding something...

Oh well, she's not gonna prod. So just. Pouting. Kind of. Sort of.]

[spellbent]

Amelia, the last thing I want is for some psychic to be alerted to your presence if you start using your magic.

I don't have friends. I have rivals at best, enemies at worst. You'd going to be perceived as an ally, and you really don't want to be involved in my affairs like that.

[recluserose]

[Ha. Aha. Getting involved with others affairs is something of a skill of hers.]

Oh. Well, that almost sounds like you're concerned for me. Almost.

[She opens her door] I feel like it's not going to be as easy as making sure I hold back from using my magic, but I won't tempt fate unless fate throws something back in my face.

[spellbent]

I suppose we'll find out. I've never brought someone from another world over for a visit before.

[recluserose]

Well, that's what friends do right? Visit each other I mean.

[spellbent]

That was awfully sentimental of you all of a sudden.

[recluserose]

What can I say? I have my moments. [She walks into the living room to move aside some books and then stops and frowns when she notices a small black fuzzy... thing in the corner]

... Well, it seems like the gnomes missed a spot.

[spellbent]

... Either that or you have a serious case of dust bunnies.

[recluserose]

[A childish voice emits from the black fuzz]

That's mean mister! I'm a very clean kitten! That's what my mother told me!

[It stands up on four legs to reveal...!!!!]




Dusky, how on earth did you get into my house? I didn't put up the cat door for any of you.

[spellbent]

These cats are seriously everywhere.

[She scoops up the kitten and cradles it in her arms]

I jumped down the chimney! Went on the roof an' down I went! I'm great at landin' on my feet Miss Amelia, I really am! [Dusky looks at Warren with wide eyes]

Where are you takin' Miss Amelia? You're that wizard mother was talkin' about right? Are you goin' to give her back? I don't want her to leave!

[spellbent]

... Talkative little thing, aren't you?

Yes, I'm going to give her back.

I'm a good talker! It takes all the other kittens a long, long time to talk well, but I'm the best! Can I come with you Miss Amelia? Where are you goin' anyways? [Man, this kitten has ADHD or something]

Dusky, I don't think that's such a good--

Oh, and the nice man with blue glasses says he's left you another note Miss Amelia!

... The what.

He says to check the paper! I don't know what that means, but...!!

[The kitten rambles on, but Amelia glances at Warren. Hope you still have that letter.]

[spellbent]

[ He does. He fishes it out of his jacket pocket and hands it to Amelia. ]

It sounds like this one's for you.

[recluserose]

[She takes the paper and indeed it is! And all it says since now...]

"Take Dusky. You're going to need her."

...Well if that isn't cryptic and straight forward at the same time.
