[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

[ He raises his eyebrows and nods. It's a unusual, but he just kind of assumes that she has some kind of light-based abilities. ]

[It fades into the air and she puts that hand back in her pocket]

What else can you see from me just standing here?

[She tosses her now empty paper cup into a nearby trash bin.]

Do you deal with both normal and unnatural crimes or just one of those? I'd imagine you'd have to deal with the magical side of crime whether you like it or not.

[And just thinking about Warren and all the stuff she can only guess he's done. She feels bad for you man :(]

Sometimes both, but most often these days my partner and I get stuck with the supernatural side of things.

[ a shrug ] It's a living.

[ The Jacob of a few years or so ago would have said he hated it, though. ]

Sounds like you have great stories to tell at least if you go out drinking to tell them.

I apologize for worrying you though.

I'm not much of a drinker, unfortunately.

Nothing you apologize for. As I said, if circumstances were different, I would have let you be. [ a beat, then: ] Are you familiar of the maenads of Greek mythology?

Hm, well I did just go over Greek mythology at the beginning of the year... Followers of Dionysus correct? "The raving ones."

[wizardcop]

Those would be the ones. We had what basically amounts to a small horde of them running around scarcely a month ago.

That sounds like the equivalent of a crazed college sorority.

[wizardcop]

At best. It gets a little worse than that once they started tearing people apart.

I can see why you're exercising caution a bit more clearly now. I certainly would have no patience for an incident like that.

[wizardcop]

It was a bit of a mess, yes. Just making sure there are no stragglers hiding out around town.

[recluserose]

So what you're saying is that you're just making sure I'm not a crazed follower of a Greek god who goes into an uncontrollable drunken frenzy?

[wizardcop]

In so many words.

I think I'd have to have more than six drinks to even reach that level of fanaticism.

[wizardcop]

That's reassuring.

Though I'd be willing to buy you a least one for being a bother.

[YES ALCOH-- Wait. On the one hand, she'll probably go with more than one drink and risk saying something stupid while being drunk.

On the other hand, alcohol.

... Sigh, this is hard.]

Hm. It is a tempting offer. [Dusky is just kind of watching Jacob closely. Very closely]

[ Well, leave it to Jacob to totally misinterpret her hesitation ]

No, no I understand where you're coming from. I'm just trying to be an adult and exercise self-restraint.

There is one more question you could ask. You don't need to answer it-- how old are you?
