[It was another night in the town of Blackgale, with no moon in sight to set the dark sky aglow amid the blanket of stars. The lack of moonlight, however, was not stopping the local (and only) witch, Amelia Steinbeck, from doing a much needed patrol for this particular night. After all, when a demon from the darkest realm from who knows where comes to ones doorstep with the intention of murder, there's probably others lurking around.

That wasn't going to do, not at all.


Of course, she had to be at school soon for an early morning meeting... But hey, it's high school and she was always on time no matter what, thanks to magic. And thus, Amelia began to wander around in the streets, with a green flame flickering in one hand-- only visible to her, other magic users, and a magnet for more demons.

[ Along some dark alley, the fabric of reality splits itself open, and out of the tear steps a figure in black, gun held at the ready at his side.

Once he enters the alley, the portal closes behind him as if it were never there. HE frowns. There's something familiar about this place ]

[recluserose]

[A disturbance in the force?! Whatever it is, Amelia senses that SOMETHING weird has occurred in one of those dark alleys. She frowns. It's not good when she doesn't have a good idea of what she's dealing with.

She closes her eyes and envisions the green flame in her hand to glow brighter. No matter who or what it was, they would come to the Emerald Witch first. She'll decide how to deal with what's thrown at her.]

[spellbent]

[ The green glow does indeed catch his attention, and he creeps forward to investigate.

He finds himself staring for a very long few moments. It can't be. ]

... Amelia?

[The green light has morphed into a circular and floral shape and its wielder holds it as if she was about to throw it--]

[recluserose]

... Wait a minute. Are you...?

[The light is bright enough to reveal Amelia. The familiar red hair, the green eyes, and glasses--

But she's older. Noticeably so too. Longer legs, sharper facial features that made her look more stern if it was even possible. Amelia examines Warren looking a bit disconcerted.]

... It IS you! Huh. Go figure.

[spellbent]

[ He notices, and quirks an eyebrow ]

It's been a while.

[recluserose]

Ten years in fact.

[She makes the disc turn back into an emerald green flame]

You look the same. Has it been ten years for you or is it just me?

[spellbent]

Just you, I'm afraid.

What are you doing out here?

[recluserose]

I see. It's... Good to see you again then. Time must be slowing down for me, I thought I wouldn't see you again.

I'd continue the pleasantries, but it's best we keep walking. It's not a good idea to stay in one place at least not right now. [And thus she keeps walking]

[spellbent]

[ He falls in-step behind her, casting a wary glance over his shoulder ]

Don't tell me you're out here hunting demons too.

[recluserose]

[She raises an eyebrow as she looks back at him]

How did you figure?

[spellbent]

[ He shrugs ] That's why I'm here.

[recluserose]

Are they after you too? They tend to gather around strong sources of magic.

[spellbent]

More like I'm after it.

[recluserose]

Hm. Well then, I'm not sure if these might be the right kind you're pursuing. One was at my doorstep threatening me for my magic before I sent it off on it's way.

[spellbent]

One from my world, one from yours, perhaps?

[recluserose]

[Sighs]

What does yours look like then?

[spellbent]

Oh, about seven feet tall. Black skin, red eyes.

... Wearing a trench coat.

[recluserose]

That... Would be hard to miss.

How dangerous are we talking here? And can it sense large sources of magic?

Right now, I'm the epitome of live bait, but it's the only way to lure all the other demons out.

[spellbent]

Of all the demons out there, I have to run across one that's apparently a fan of Columbo.

[ He thinks on that for a moment ] This one has a certain... taste for the flesh of wizards, but no, it can't sense the magic. It would make sense for it to find a demon that could, though.

[recluserose]

Demons thrive in this world to consume magic. I suppose I'll be thankful your trench coat wearing friend isn't the same.

[spellbent]

No. He just wants to eat you. He claims magic-users have a nice flavor.

[ he shrugs ] That was all I got out of him before he tried to make me his lunch. I wounded him, and he ran. Now here we are.

[recluserose]

It's always about flesh-eaters isn't it?

[Making the green flame in her hand disperse into little globes of light as she walks along-- they're floating EVERYWHERE in the town trying to search for the demons and her efforts are rewarded when they hear a low animal sounds from the park

[spellbent]

[ His eyebrows go up ]

I suppose it's a bit late to ask what your demon looks like?

[recluserose]

They're usually shapeless actually. Large, shadowy forms because most of them do not possess the arts needed for high level shape shifting. Only the more powerful of their kind can give themselves a form such as a human form or a dragon.

But if that noise was anything to go by... It might be a bear. [And heads towards the park] Maybe I can ask it if it's seen your demon.
