More Crossover Continuity ⇒ Double Date, Double Trouble

[After a wild weekend in the town of Blackgale, specifically at Amelia's house, the witch spent most of her time smoothing things over with the questioning locals, grading all of her student's neglected essays, and trying to apologize to the talking cat commune for not warning them about the huge human gathering. It's tough being the only witch in town sometimes. She needed to relax. What does she plan?

Why, another trip to Las Vegas, Nevada of course! Well, it wasn't so much to enjoy the tempting offers of Sin City, but to visit the person Amelia was now comfortable calling a friend, the owner of the... interesting club, Griffonx. Madigan of course!

A quick magic teleportation and search for the hidden club later, Amelia opens up the door to the establishment, dressed casually.

It should be a normal day with nothing unexpected happening whatsoever...]

I was going to suggest we go next to whatever is your favorite place.

If that would be your home, I would not necessarily object.

... I'd like you to meet Griff anyway, and no offense, but that would go better without your brother around.

None taken, and I would very much like to meet your griffon friend.

Well then, shall we?

Yes.

[Loki and Amelia can trace them wherever they go, so there's no reason to stay at this location.

Thor offers his arm to Madigan again as they set off.]

[ They don't have to go far- they just turn a corner, and there it is, normal people passing right by it like it's not even there.

At this time of night, business is a bit more booming. There are couples (and sometimes groups of three) scattered around the main sitting area, all occupied more with each other than anything else. Occasionally they will rise from where they're sitting, and head up the stairs to the back.

There's a young, sporty-looking blonde woman behind the bar, and she glances from Madigan to Thor and back, with a quirked eyebrow and an obvious smirk of approval. Mads merely winks and guides Thor to the stairs ]

There's not much else to see down here.

[Thor catches the look between them and gives the woman a smile before following Madigan to the stairs.]

It seems you're not lacking in patrons.

[griffonix]

Most often, me and my girls are as close to healers as any of these people can get. But that's not to say they don't show up for some fun, too.

[ At the top of the stairs, there's a long, wide hallway lined with doors. Bedrooms, actually. They're headed for the door at the end of the hall. ]

Do your workers all have the same powers that you do?

[griffonix]

They do.

... Believe me, I know what it's like to grow up with this power, and no idea how to use it. No one deserves that.

So! I take them in, and teach them. If they wish to stay, then they're more than welcome. If not, then at least they go out my door armed with knowledge.

That is honorably done.

Were you able to find a teacher when you were growing up?

[griffonix]

... Mostly by accident. She used to own this building, actually.

[ They've arrived at the door, which she unlocks and opens to reveal a well-furnished room. A couple of chairs, a table or two, and of course a rather large bed, with a trunk at the end. She moves past all that to a narrow set of spiral stairs in one corner, twisting up to a hatch in the ceiling. ]

[He follows her, looking around with curiosity.]

[griffonix]

[ Up the stairs! She places her palm flat against the door, and after a moment there is a flash of golden light. She pushes it open and heads the rest of the way up, into a rather spacious loft apartment. ]

Welcome to my humble abode. Griff should be around here somewhere.

[mjolnir_time]

[He didn't miss the flash of light. He assumes that was some kind of warding spell.]

So this is where you live.

[griffonix]

It is. It's-- [ she's cut short when the griffon comes bounding into the room. The creature is massive- its shoulder coming to Madigan's eye-level- all golden feathers and golden fur. Its beak is the color of dark steel. So are its talons, which would be aimed for Thor if Madigan hadn't stepped in front of him ]

Stop that! This is why I can't have people over for dinner anymore.

[mjolnir_time]

[Thor is a little amused at Madigan putting herself between him and danger. It doesn't happen to him that often.

When it appears the griffon isn't planning to tear him apart, he gives it a deep bow.]

Greetings, Sir Griffon.

[griffonix]

[ The griffon straightens, practically looking down his beak at Thor. Griff eyes him critically for a moment before sweeping into a bow of his own ]

... I think that means he likes you.

[mjolnir_time]

Then I am honored.

Does he speak to you?

[griffonix]

He can talk to anyone. He just chooses not to.

[ Griff angles his head at Madigan, and she shrugs ] Go on. Talk to him- I'm not going to play translator.

[ He snorts, and casts his gaze to Thor. Though the griffon never once opens his beak, there is suddenly a voice- old, but not frail. There's power there. ]

SO YOU ARE THE ASGARDIAN I HAVE HEARD OF.

[mjolnir_time]

I am. Thor, son of Odin, at your service.

[And another brief bow.]

[griffonix]

[ Griff circles Thor, still inspecting him. The look on her face suggests she can only hear half of the conversation ]

SHE MENTIONED A RESEMBLANCE BETWEEN YOU AND I. I SEE ONLY THE SLIGHTEST OF SIMILARITIES. [he cocks his head, amused ] SHE IS RATHER FOND OF YOU, YOU KNOW.

[mjolnir_time]

Perhaps only that we are both old and powerful? [A small smile.] Although I do have a helmet with wings of metal, I doubt that is what she meant.

[He hesitates slightly after the second comment, entering dangerous territory possibly with her protector.]

And I of her. She is a remarkable woman.

[griffonix]

[ Madigan quirks a brow. Boys, what are you talking about?

For his own part, Griff lets out another snort, ceasing his circling and coming to a sit at Madigan's side ]

SHE IS MORE PRECIOUS THAN YOU REALIZE. MORE FRAGILE AS WELL.

I SUPPOSE I AM SOMEHOW OBLIGATED TO THREATEN YOU, SHOULD YOU HURT HER. I DOUBT I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT, HOWEVER, I WILL ASK YOU TO TREAT HER WITH CARE ALL THE SAME.
