Correct! It's an important landmark as well as the keystone to all of the leylines in the city. If anything happens, there are plenty of woods surrounding the exterior for us to engage in battle.

There's a beat, where he almost teases: something about how she should be careful that her hair's dried properly before saying anything about being in good health...

[ He hardly needs to be told, but he figures that she understands his stance by now. A nod, and he dissipates into spiritual form, wondering whether or not Ai likes lavender.

The remnants of the fight from the night before leaves Fuyuki in a light fog; thick clouds hang heavy over the previously-clear sky, reminiscent of the night Lancer met Ai. It's not ideal weather for exploration, but Lancer is prepared and ready to move out regardless, in his civilian clothes in case Ai wants to walk outside in company.

Lingering in the living room, he polishes the runes on Gae Dearg idly, tracing the outline of his lance with care. ]

[A walk to Ryuudou Temple from Miyama Town would not be as lengthy as a trek to Shinto. There was the stairs to the Mountain Gate to contend with, but aside from that, Ai Thao is safely assuming that their journey would be uninterrupted as long as they stuck closely to residential streets.

She walks out of her room, clothed in her black turtle neck dress and light brown dress. Warm, durable, and easy to move around in in the event she has to take action.]

I'm ready!

[Ai is making one last round around the house, checking the windows are locked and curtains are drawn.]

All set. We're leaving, Lancer.

[ He stands up when he's called for, and his lance disappears in a glow of red light until it's needed again. The few days of rest have done him well— not that he particularly needs to be well-rested— and his prana reserve is full.

A glance towards the window, and he suggests a light: ] Will we need an umbrella?

[She heads for the front door and stops at his question.]

Ah... Even if rain were to occur, I'm afraid I don't have an umbrella. It should be the last worry on our minds though.

[Anyways, she's opening the door and glancing around outside. All clear. Ai steps outside first, taking a deep breath. This time. This time, they should be able to have a proper battle.]

[ God, things are different; he remembers taking shelter under trees when it rained, pulling off his cape and giving it to Grainne when they were on the run. It's the little things.

He's quiet as they walk through the general dim of the day, not necessarily somber but thoughtful. How many more days does he have, how long will this war last? Is he doing all he can? What is his objective?

His thoughts prompt him to stay a little closer to Ai than usual, silently protective despite the lack of immediate danger. ]

[She's also quiet and the lightness of their footsteps against cement is the only sound that can be heard. Although silence could be a blessing, it's making her recall the past several days events and that included the haunting dream of Diarmuid's...

No. She can't let that bother her again. (But it does, it lingers like the fog around them.)

Even though those moments were painful, it would become another memory. It would join the other ones, including the day they first met and... For everything they've been through so far, Ai Thao could honestly tell herself that these were the most precious moments that she's had in years. She and Lien had been able to bond a little more as sisters. The young Master found herself overcoming obstacles in this War and growing, if only somewhat.

Would it still be too selfish to think of this man next to her as friend? The first night as Master and Servant, she acknowledged the thought as childish, but had some hope. Days had past and they were still connected.

As she mulls over those thoughts, as she so often does, another song escapes her lips. It's light, wishful, a reflection of words she can't directly say...]

[ It's strange, how much of this he's gotten used to: the spontaneous singing, for one. The lyrics say plenty, and he's grateful for them as much as he's apologetic about the fact that he can't respond, in kind.

The conflict always remains, how much of himself he's allowed to give— in the sense that he's Ai's Servant, his current life is hers. But he knows the tragedy of overstepping, and he's averse to leading her on as much as he is to harming her.

So, instead of saying anything in response to her singing, he shrugs off his jacket and puts it over Ai's shoulders, keeping her a little drier from the light drizzle that's started. ]

[There's a light, "Oh!" as he places the jacket over her shoulders. Geez, this Servant was too good at being considerate. She's voiced her worries about having unnecessary feelings to Lien already and in hindsight, it's getting harder to tell what was real or if this was simply the rapture of many firsts that she wasn't able to have due to living at an abnormal pace with an equally abnormal life.

There's a part of her that thinks it would be nice. But there's literally a song called, "Fools Fall in Love," Ai thinks there's a good reason why that exists.]

[Ai feels strange because she feels as if she's always been taken care of, even after her twin strove for her own independence. The rain makes her think of something else, thankfully.]

You know, I've always had a feeling that before, Lien and I would play in the rain during the monsoon seasons in Vietnam.

We may not remember certain things, but I would like to think we weren't unhappy.

[SIGH. Somewhat exasperated, she smiles regardless.]

She pushes that thought away, that want. She tells herself, it's just magic. You don't need those feelings because they aren't real, but the appreciation for having her life protected is sincere and that's all it is.]

Hm. So even if this was a proper War, I bet I'd still be alive thanks to you. There hasn't been a Master that's tried to confront me yet.
