It's the, "I don't know how to feel about this," way. He's definitely got himself a new ride though.

[Lien purses her lips and takes off both of her gloves and pocketing them. It looks like she's going full throttle herself.]

Anyways. You, roof, me I'm staying back. His head can't be far from here.

Your call, "boss". I'm guessing his new "ride" isn't a horse.

[ A sweep of his bangs, and he uses the same hand to usher Lien out of the elevator. ]

Go curl up somewhere, sing a song or two. I'll be back.

[She wrinkles her nose at him before starting off.]

If you don't come back...

[A beat.]

I'm watching the movie without you! [And she runs off down the nearest hallway, her earrings gleaming somewhat despite the faint lights that come from outside.

There doesn't need to be anymore words between them, not after they've come this far.

Yeah, because I won't be back.

[ Is what he mumbles under his breath as the doors close, as he settles against the back wall of the elevator and waits for it to climb laboriously up to the roof. He feels like maybe he should have given her a trinket or something— his earring? has he done that before?— just so she has something of his to fool around with, but he decides that in the end, it's not necessary.

His eyes are closed for the duration of his ride up, one red eye opening when the bell rings and signals that he's arrived.
]

Well, time to work.

[As Lien leaves with those unheard words all is mostly silent within the building.

On the roof though, is where their demonic and headless enemy Servant awaits him. There's fog too, but they've found out that the miasma wouldn't affect other Servants so Cu's got that going for him at least. No, what's worrisome is what Lien exactly feared; he has a new mount, but it's a machine, a motorcycle to be exact.

Rider's body is different too, another correct assumption from Lien. It's not as muscular as his previous one, but it's still fit enough. But what none of them would have guessed was who the body would belong to. Sharp eyes would notice the right hand that has burnt out and used Command Spells.

The Headless Horseman laughs and revs up the engine of his new mount as he faces (no pun intended) Lancer. The prana that emits from his new body is intense, causing the mist to swirl around them wildly.

[ God, it's like everyone's too good for the basics now.

Cu looks at the motorcycle, then at the new body, back at the motorcycle, back at the body. There's an immediate disgust upon the realization that the enemy Servant's pilfered his Master's body— not that he has any idea what the two's relationship was like, but it's the principle of the thing. Killing his own Master, that's the work of scum.

(Unless you're killing Kotomine Kirei, who started shit with you first. That doesn't count as liege-killing, okay, not exactly.)

Without batting an eye, Lancer positions his spear so that it's facing Rider, red glint in his eye matching the dim light of his weapon.
]

Make it quick. I need to go back and watch "Die Hard".
psychometer: (But you didn't have to cut me up)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-02-06 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
[The long and short of it was that Rider probably got tired of his Master. It doesn't help that he wasn't a "hero" to begin with; simply a creature who was penned down as a legend, a demon of the night that would take the head of anyone who was unfortunate to cross him. Who knows what this Servant's true identity was before he lost his head and became an ungodly creature that could have qualified for Berserker, what with the way he took over his Master's body??

The Headless Horseman cackles (what a great feat, doing that without a head).
]

No need to mince words, eh? I like it, I like it!

[The engine is on full blast, and he summons his weapon, the axe like from before. And without pause he drives right at Lancer, faster than normal leaving a trail of flames behind.

MEANWHILE. Lien's looking up at the roof, biting her lip. This better be over quick, she thinks.

[ everything is being read in a nic cage voice rn

Something tells Cu that he's not going to be able to cut through that motorcycle like he usually would— that'd be way too easy, he's fairly certain that Rider's coated that thing with more defensive prana than he cares to contemplate. So, instead of facing his enemy directly, like he's inclined to, Cu sidesteps and angles his attack from the side, ignoring the wheels for now to just concentrate on pinning the body so he can tend to the head.

[Rider swings his axe to block Gae Bolg and he hooks onto it using the head of the axe; his intention being to drag Cu down with him as he rides to the other side of the building.

Inside, the mist is infiltrating the building and Lien coughs. It feels stronger to her, but she resolves to go on, not wanting to fall for this trick again (and for Lancer to make fun of her). She opts to pull the collar of her jacket around her mouth and nostrils as she grazes her fingers against the ground every now and then to track Rider's past movements.

[personal profile] lansaigh 2015-02-09 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ The tactic works, and he's dragged along the floor of the building until he almost hits the wall: it takes a moment to unhook Gae Bolg from the curve of Rider's axe, and that moment is enough for his opponent to span a good distance, after all.

Clicking his tongue, Cu lifts his feet from the ground to hopefully hop onto the back of the vehicle, which would be mildly cool if he weren't fighting someone right now. He also prefers double-saddling with pretty girls, so this in't much of a thrill...

[Seeing as how Servants were more or less super human, driving down the side of the building was an easy feat especially for the Rider class. As Cu gets on the back of the vehicle, Headless is quick to clash his axe against Gae Bolg, trying to fight him off.

Lien's searching has lead her to the lower floors where the mist is beginning to thin; she's still been feeling the effects though. It's as if her limbs are about to give out, but she presses onward.

... That's it. I quit.

[She throws her arms up in the air before carefully standing up and avoiding any stray glass. Sure, she may have said that, but Rider passing by actually helped out more than one would think. His presence made her catch notice of another surge of energy coming from the back of one of the rooms. Wasting no time, Lien makes her way over into the inconspicuous area where it would have been the break room.]

[ Aren't you glad you became a Master, Lien... the things you deal with when you associate with crazy people on the regular.

Cu is trying to balance on the motorcycle while Rider tries to shake him off, keeping himself on it (miraculously) while trying to retaliate with a few jabs of his lance. It's an arduous process, and even though he's not sure about the success rate of what he's about to do, he goes for it anyway: lifting his spear above his head for a precious second, he tries to jab the end into one of the tires.
]

Can't you stand still and fight?! Damn.

[Well, stabbing at the tire should probably work after a few tries. As it's being punctured, the Headless Horseman leaps off of his seat, still a good hundred meters from the ground before landing on his feet, creating a huge crater from the impact. The motorcycle is quickly being devoured by flames.

While that's going on, Lancer's Master has found a thin trail of almost dried up blood on the floor and the images she's getting from it aren't pretty... Lien pulls her fingers back, clenching her right hand into a fist as the reflection of the struggle of Rider versus his now dead Master plays in her head. Sure this Servant was already a de facto enemy, but now she REALLY hated him and hopes she doesn't come across the other poor man's head.

The source of energy she felt comes from... A mini-fridge? Well... It kind of makes sense...

Lien kneels down and opens the door... And is met with a very gaunt and very decapitated head. The moment she finds it, the eyes open and stare at her, bloodshot and maddened as if trying to hypnotize her with its haunting gaze.

Lien yells in shock at the sight of the head in the fridge before slamming it shut and quickly forcing the prana from her hands into high gear by converting it into an ignition spell, the kind that would seal up the fridge via welding the edges and making it an inescapable box. It's a good thing Rider's too busy fighting off Lancer to materialize his head somewhere else. She's really giving it her all so that it's done swiftly even if it's a rough job. Now she's got to deal with dragging the fridge across the room and back to one of the windows and it's damn heavy.

[ This is really turning into Die Hard 2 with the exploding everythings, and Lancer is having a hard time taking any of it too seriously... not that he's halfhearting his task, but he knows the quality of his opponent's character now. This isn't a warrior he's up against: just some blood-crazed ax murderer. Literally.

He shares the distaste that Lien is feeling, a little miffed that he has to sully his spear (usually reserved only for worthy opponents, if legend is anything to go by) on someone like this. Kicking aside motorcycle debris, actually cutting through fire to carve a path for himself, he launches forward and ahead to get Rider to stumble back, to give him an opening.

You've overstayed your welcome, bastard. This war is weird enough without you adding to the mess.

[Rider stumbles back alright, but he guards himself with the handle of his axe. When Lancer gets up close, he laughs at his statement.]

Strange would not be the only word to describe this ritual. But you know what? I've began to understand it. This is a war not for a wish...

[He pushes forward, trying to get Lancer to take the defensive.]

... But rather the war IS the wish!!

[Lien is nothing, if not resourceful. Instead of dragging the fridge turned prison box with her own physical strength, she's got it onto a chair with rolling wheels. Who needs magecraft in this situation.

When she gets to the window she has to look around until she spots Lancer and Rider going at it. She shouts down.

[ In a weird way, Lancer agrees, momentarily, about the fact that the fighting itself might be the purpose of this stupid, disjointed "war"— but he resents that, and his expression twists into a frown as he blocks the axe, feels himself get pushed back a few feet upon impact. ]

That's good for you, isn't i...

[ ...but he's cut off by his Master yelling for him, which may have been a minor annoyance during any other fight excluding this. A glance up towards the familiar face, and he blinks, taken off-guard (not good, but he knows when to get back into focus) before he realizes what this is.

Which gets him to stop and laugh.
]

WHAT!?

[Rider is also distracted and when he momentarily focuses on the enemy Master, the realization dawns on him.]

WHY YOU...!!

[He had assumed Lien was staying out of the fight due to the fact that his mist nearly made her succumb to death last time. But she had never left. She was someone who would one way or another take part in a battle with her newly made friend even if it was in her own unique way.

Without wasting anymore time, Lien steps back and then rushes at the chair to give it a good kick out the broken window. The chair and box begin to fall, increasing in speed towards the Servants. Rider begins to run up the wall trying to catch it before Lancer letting out a roar of rage.

He would get Lien next if he had his way.

[ It's one thing to be fast, and it's another thing to be Gae Bolg. That comparison works precisely in one context, but this is the right one: when Lancer gets into stance, holding his spear against his side to launch it up and towards the falling fridge, the deed might as well already be done. ]

Gae...

[ The magic spear that reverses causality. What's important now isn't speed or skill, it's an inevitability, the inevitability being that his spear will hit. ]

...Bolg!

[ So. Sorry Rider— that flash of red that flies past him and directly into that box, splitting it cleanly and destroying whatever is inside (he has a good idea of what) is a result of inexorable circumstances. ]

[And he was so close too.

A shriek rings throughout the building. The fog and mist is washed away by a wind of released prana that is quickly disappearing. The Headless Horseman is without his head and his stolen body cannot sustain him even with the used Spells.

The headless monster from the unassuming legend that originated in a sleepy town has been defeated.

When the box is split, there's an explosion of light that blinds Lien slightly and she has to cover her eyes. Rider begins to fall and as he does his entire being begins to disappear in luminous wisps that fade away making it so he was never there to begin with. There's a rewarding sense of serenity that settles throughout the entire area now that he is gone.

Victory to the Hound of Chulainn and his Master. Lien takes a deep breath of the clear night air in relief.

[ His sigh of relief curls in the air, a sentiment that isn't borne from uncertainty of his actions but because he doesn't have to deal with that particular Servant anymore; what a handful. There's only so much contempt he can have before it gets old.

He retrieves Gae Bolg, taps it once, twice against the ground as if to get any residue off of it (there is none), before turning back to Lien with a half-exasperated smile.
]

[Finally realized that he was a hero? Well, it wasn't hard to get that part figured out. She doesn't retort though and instead squats down on her knees to look back at him.]

You did it! What more would you like me to say?

[At least for her, it's a satisfactory win. This Rider was a tough opponent and it took more than one try to really get an edge on him. It's the feeling of elation that makes it hard for her to choose words. But...]

... You did great, Cu Chulainn. It's your win.

[Lien smiles down at the hero after calling him his true name. There's a gentle, but deep admiration in her eyes that isn't concealed by her veil of inscrutability. It was as if she was allowing her true feelings to be unabashed as possible.]

I'll come down to you, ok? Not much else to do, but call it a night.

... Ah, what the hell.

[She preps herself by taking a deep breath before dropping down. The funny thing is, she didn't feel scared at all. Lien feels she could fall a million times and instead of breaking apart and scattering into pieces, there was a possibility she would be completely fine.]
