[ He replies with a soft sound from the back of his throat in acknowledgement, subtle and fond, and he looks like he's about to say something when— ]
—Ah, I shouldn't. You would be angry with me.
[ Diarmuid!!!!!!! ]

[Too bad, her interest is piqued!]
Try me! As your Master, I've already permitted you to speak your mind before!
no subject
With a soft sigh, he concedes. ]
"If it's true that you're a descendant of a fairy, that would explain how lovely you are."
[ Never give this nerd permission to speak his mind, tbh. ]

PANICPANICPANICPANIC.]

[GOD taking a deep breath and exhaling before changing the subject.]
... Ah, the fragrances are rather strong aren't they?? Um, we don't need this much light!
[She grabs a few candles on the table, giving a puff of breath to each to blow out each flame. There's still enough light in the kitchen, but now it's harder to see each others faces except for the faint glowing outlines the remaining candles cast upon them.]

Especially since she's trying to gain the advantage of the dark. It's obvious, but he won't say as much in reverence to her position. ]
Is the rain not bothering you anymore?
[ look at this perfect-ass gentleman trying to gracefully change the subject for her ]

And to hide her red face. She draws the lavender scented candle near her before she answers his question.]It doesn't sound like it'll be too bad for the rest of the night. And... Um, talking with you helped keep my mind off of the storm!
[The lavender candle's flame is small, but its light is able to make her blue eyes flicker and give her hair a soft look as she brushes the long strands behind one ear.]
And either way, I wouldn't complain about it. As they say, life without rain is just a desert.

He'll take the little things. ]
I see. And I have it to thank for the time I've been able to spend with you, Master.
no subject
[There's a strange ache in her heart as she realizes that this won't happen in the future again...]
Once the storm passes, we'll have to get back to business soon, won't we?
no subject
[ He's still running on the affability, stoicism on the back burner for now. He hopes that whatever happens, she'll be a little less afraid of storms in the future. ]
Have you finalized an idea for your wish?
no subject
I'm afraid not.
[Thinking back on it, the "wish" she told Diarmuid before they went to Ryuudou Temple was kind of embarrassing; Ai felt as if she had laid her heart open in that moment even more than she already does.]
Is that disheartening? Whatever the Holy Grail is, I suppose after my experiences, I'm too cautious to place hope in something that offers a miracle.
no subject
I see. You have reason to be cautious, which is understandable.
But the Grail isn't without its merits. It's given me you as a Master.

In an ultimately harsh world, where Ai Thao and her twin knew firsthand the cruelty and indifference of other people all too well and where they could only depend on each other and few others, Diarmuid ua Duibhne came into her life, living proof that there was goodness and hope in others and that it was something worth striving for.]
Then I'll level with you, Diarmuid. Ever since you became my Servant, I feel that these past few weeks have been an adventure one way or another. And for better or for worse...
[She clasps her hands together and in spite of the low lights, her warm smile can still be seen.]
Right now? I'm happy. And hopeful for our victory.
no subject
He feels like it's been a long time, since the concept of satisfaction's settled over his heart. ]
Your happiness is my happiness.
[ A beat, and then: ]
If that arrangement suits you fine, of course.
[ A low hint of teasing, here. ]
no subject
[The sound of the drumming rain is beginning to grow softer making her glance out the window.]
Ah, it seems the storm has passed. And it's getting late now, so maybe I should retire.
no subject
—I'll stay materialized, in case the thunder scares you again.
[ watch it, diarmuid. ]

[She takes one of the candles with her to light her path, hands cupped around the glass encasing. Ai walks to the entrance leading to the hallway, before stopping and thinking.
It was nice, having a normal conversation after all they've been through. But was it totally fair that she let Diarmuid get away with teasing her? She's not sure if she should do this, but...
Without turning around, she calls to him:]
Diarmuid? One more thing.
no subject
[ It's a bit of a comfort for him, the slow lessening of distance— even if he wonders to what extent he can allow himself that. How much longer will he be allowed her company?
Despite it, he turns on his heels to face her properly. ]
I'll hear it, of course.
1/2
... But it could be worth a shot? She's not sure. Maybe she's feeling petty and really does just want to keep him on his toes especially since she's been the one doing so all this time.]
... If I was really a descendant of a fairy...
[Ai Thao here is very much making it a point to not be looking at him by keeping her back facing Diarmuid (if she dared look at him now what she says next could be taken too...)]
no subject
If I really was a descendant of a fairy, shouldn't I be bewitching you instead of the other way around? That would be more fair, don't you think?
[... Rather it was definitely her, but she was just cranking up the tease level to a very high 11. He can't see her face, but she is smiling to herself.]
Mm. Well... Good night!
[Deciding that she doesn't need the candle's light to lead her way (and so Diarmuid can't see her expression), she blows it out and makes her leave.
Don't underestimate your Master, Lancer...]
