[ That's a bit of an obvious dig, and Lancer knows it. It's revealing a little without revealing too much about what Caster said, giving Lien food for thought without casting too much doubt on her... which is his intention, but it might be more roundabout than he'd like. He finds himself calling himself out on that, actually.
His expression twists for a brief second, as if he's done something unsavory. ]
Listen, I'm not thrilled about taking Caster's advice over yours, but she said something about you not having clarity about yourself.
no subject
[Well, Caster wasn't wrong. And while Lancer didn't look pleased about what he had to say, Lien on the other hand, takes it in stride although she does seem to struggle to give a proper reply. She lets out a short sigh before clasping her hands together and putting them in her lap.
They've come this far. She didn't want to shut things out again.]
I have tested out my Eyes when I was younger; after we were taken in I mean. My own instructor had an interest in my Mystic Eyes after all. But like Ai Thao told you, I pass out from overuse. The conclusion's an easy one to make really; if I keep letting information flow freely into my sight, my brain would short out and I'd be as good as dead.
[She tries not to let the resigned self of hers creep into her body language and her words, but it's difficult when it comes to the topic of...]
... The magus that rearranged my Circuits probably had me use my Eyes a lot.
[In other words, she was barely kept alive.]
So the things I should be aware of, the things I should remember... [She feels her insides twist as if the uneasiness was manifesting itself physically and she grips the railing on either side of her with all of her strength in order to steady herself.]
... It's not within my reach.
no subject
It's not difficult to imagine, though. Being taken advantage of isn't easy to admit. ]
That's that, then.
[ So his reply is simple. Steady. Cu doesn't smile, but he turns to lean the small of his back against cold metal, swings his elbows back against the wind. ]
If you can't remember, if it's not within your reach, then that's that. If there comes a time when you have to buck up and see how you can push forward from that, then I'll make sure you do it. But otherwise?
[ He tips his head up, looks into the night sky. ]
You've got enough clarity to see you've got things missing. That's as good a place to start as any.

If you keep on being that lenient with me, I'll want to keep you around more you know.
[This wouldn't last forever. They're both used to the temporary and the fleeting, but while Cu Chulainn had lived despite that adversary, Lien had let the adversary define her life.
Now here they are. A temporary and fleeting War and a temporary and fleeting moment between them. But this time, underneath the night sky and knowing how she felt for him, it felt like it could be forever.
The rain falls down from the dark sky and she stands still as if wanting to drown. She walks blindly in no particular direction until she is pulled towards another presence, one whose shadow is not entirely unfamiliar. There is a voice—
"—There's something you want right?."
She keeps moving forward.
"—C'mon, give me something a bit MORE to work with."
She walks forward, aware of the magic that is awry, aware that there is someone else, and she stops, looks up, and sees him, a hero, someone who can help her fix this wrongness that had been caused somehow.
"—Ah, what the hell. You're gonna have to fill in the blanks from here though."
... She doesn't know what she had been doing in the rain, the first time they met. But at least, at the very least, there was some purpose behind it, for better or for worse and these moments were one of the most permanent things Lien's ever had in her life. The young magus leans sideways so that her head rests on Cu's shoulder.]
If anyone told me that I would feel differently about you from the first day we met, I would have decked them.
no subject
[ It's almost reflexive, his response, and he wonders why that came out so smoothly—
—but the strangeness comes and goes, a twinge in his chest that relaxes the moment Lien settles her weight on him.
(She thinks he grounds her, but in some ways, she keeps him here, anchored; an incomplete Spirit, held together by his own flippant need to keep this bright, sad girl on her toes.) ]
And, yeah, I'm not surprised. You didn't even really know who I was.
[ Rapping his knuckles against her forehead, gently. ]
1/2
Now I won't ever forget. You and your name will always be firmly in my grasp.
[Someone or something to hold onto. Something that was hers. Was that the wish?
She doesn't want to think too broadly about this right this second. Right now? A little bit of fun.]
no subject
[She pushes herself off the railing to stand in front of him with more confidence and her gown shimmers as she shifts herself.]
At least not when I'm dressed like this!
no subject
One thousand years from now, when the world's become even more confusing than the way it is now, I'll still be talking about you and that damn dress, missy.
[ That's a promise. ]
no subject
[The light in her eyes is playful a definite change from before.]
no subject
[ He sounds proud about that, about the fact that he's the only one that'll really know what Lien looks like in that dress.
And to make things worse, he reaches out to put one hand around Lien's waist, to tug her in towards him so that they're almost chest to chest. ]
So don't raise that danger level too high, missy. You're the one that's going to regret it.
1/2
Without any fear, she wraps her arms around his waist and presses herself against him into an intimate embrace.
It's warm.]
I feel like I'm going to regret a lot of things.
[When it comes to him anyways.]
But hey, you know me. I'm good at making things up as I go.
no subject
[She looks up at him, smiling sweetly, if devilishly.]
If you're already pulling me in with the way I am now, I bet I'd kick your butt if I was a little older and knew how to mess you up.
no subject
He almost doesn't register her teasing threat, but when it settles, he has to bark a laugh in return— it's always good when Lien poses a challenge to him, it's the sort of audacity that he likes best about her. ]
How much older? You're still welcome to try; I like a woman who knows how to bruise me.
no subject
[She takes his face in her hands to kiss the spot that's just right underneath his ear. Yeah. Take that. She's totally just teasing.]
This will have to do. Just for now though!
no subject
That's awfully bold of Lien, all things considered. He remembers when she'd been infinitely more suspicious, when mooching breakfast off of her was the most he could do without getting insulted (not that the insults have stopped, but then again, he wouldn't want them to).
She's come a long way, and that's a fond thought— one that doesn't show beyond his eyes, because his lips are still curled up wolfishly at the feeling of lips on skin. Leaning forward, Cu bends Lien back just enough that her long hair almost touches the floor of their crow's nest vantage point. ]
Come on, don't be stingy. I get more prana when it's mouth to mouth.
[ Down, dog. ]
no subject
You could ask nicely. Just a thought.
[The thing about being caught up in the moment is that you probably didn't realize it until after it has passed. Which is probably why Lien has this sudden rush of forwardness where for once, she's actually going with the mood.
And. Well. Who wouldn't be happy being like this with the one they've grown to adore?]
no subject
[ His tone dips low, barely visible over the steady howl of the wind that blows faster up in this altitude. He knows Lien can hear, though, close as they are, Cu's own long hair billowing over his shoulder to pool against hers. ]
Fine, though— I'll make an exception for today.
Tell me what you want to hear.
no subject
She knew it. This was so bad for her. ]
... You know what?
[Instead she leans in, her lips on his, brief and yet not so gentle as before. And when she ends it and pulls back, her blue eyes are soft with affection.]
I don't need to hear anything right now.
no subject
In the here and now, he feels a surge of not-just-prana through his circuits when lips meet lips, and he chases it without reservation, even after Lien pulls back and speaks. He goes in for another kiss, quick, and then another one, even quicker.
(Give an inch, he'll take whatever he can get away with for now.)
And, infuriatingly enough?
She tells him she doesn't need words, so he stays completely silent. ]
no subject
Although an action like this would have been seen as selfish and most of all, unimaginable in the past, right here and now, Lien didn't feel selfish. This was a want, but instead of wanting to take, she wanted to give this feeling in return, to lay it all bare even more than before.
It was incredibly infuriating, but loving at the same time and her kiss seems to express that emotion strongly.]
no subject
So when he finally pulls back enough to let Lien breathe, he keeps his forehead pressed against hers. To tell her that he's as endeared to her as she might be to him, that he wants to keep to proximity because he's more than comfortable in it.
Red eyes narrow, and he curls his mouth up into a surprisingly sincere grin. Still silent. ]
no subject
... Um.
[Her voice is a whisper, a shy one.]
You can say thank you. If you want.
no subject
Thanks for the meal.
[ The Worst. ]

As if!
