[How long had it been since that fateful day in Whitehaven? That city still thrived even after the disaster it brought upon itself and the sudden reappearance of the Beast of Heaven. She remembers that day all too clearly because of the waves of past memories and pain reappeared and she was finally released. That was the day that man...]
"Goodbye. If you never see me again, you'll be happy right?"
"Goodbye and I'm sorry."
[Idiot. She wasn't happy at all.
Because he was a warlock, it meant that his kind were hard to track down, even for a celestial beast like her. Anil had helped her regain some of her former powers, but at some point, their paths diverged because she still found the time to explore whatever world she was able to cross into. Anil called it, "stalling." He was probably right. Brisa, the blackbird and legendary, Beast of Heaven had yet to figure out what she would do after she tracked down her treasured friend.
Night in Fuyuki City. The bridge is brightly lit, but the figure sitting on top of the metal rails blends in due to her small size. Anyone who was able to get a close look at her would see a young masked girl in foreign clothing, surrounded by ravens. And it's nearly impossible to hear her talking to them.]
... There's so much magic in this city! I'd imagine a lot of trouble happens here.
[Brisa nods sagely, hugging her knees. The ravens glance at her, cawing and communicating with her in their own way. She shakes her head in response.]
No. I don't know what I'm doing. I'm alone again for now. If I can't think of anything else, I'll fly with all of you.

Some may live their lives with their 'hosts' to enjoy their new life in this world. Some may still try to find purpose from their old lives to get adjusted to this new one. Or some may even die when they can't tolerate this new place and new era anymore through one mean or another.
But when a boy crossing the bridge at the late night because he noticed something 'strange' has flown into his town, it was by right that his royal presence should see what it is to investigate. And if its something unsightly... well, he'll just have to find a way to get rid of it from his town, won't he? At least that nun from the church won't be so much of a slave driver later on.
With each of his step that echoed with a patter in the quiet night, the little King slowly approached the figure but stopped within ten feet of it. Sure, some birds have flown but he has noticed a good portion of them still remained by this person's side. How suspicious... ]
You seem lost... and not from around here. [ Always a good ice breaker, but he seems like he's in a good mood so far. Nothing hostile from him yet. ] Are you trying to find something? Or are you merely here for a rest, I wonder?
no subject
For a moment, there's not a sound to be made except for the rustling of feathers and the slight whistle of the night breeze. The girl speaks up, her tone simple, but to the point.]
The view up here is nice.
[Brisa tilts her head, trying to make sense of the presence in front of her. The first thing that catches her attention is his eyes... They were similar to hers in a way, but bright reds in contrast with her jewel pink eyes, hidden behind the mask.
She continues, relaxing her body and allowing her legs to dangle on the edge.]
I can't say that I'm actually lost. That would mean I had a destination in the first place.
Tags may be a little slow. Eating dinner at the same time. :|b
Another thing to take note of was her specific choice of words made. Was she just wandering around and just so happened to come across to this place, or was it another case of something being summoned here by magecraft and witchery? Mages these days... always trying to rein in something greater than themselves only to get burned. Still, he didn't detect much of a threat from her, so he pockets his hands inside his coat pockets as he closes the distance between himself and her. ]
So you are lost then... just lost without knowing where to even go. Just because you don't know a destination doesn't mean that you can't be lost. All you need is just a point and a push to the right direction to get where you need to go.
Which still makes me wonder how someone like you managed to come to this place. [ He gives a small grin and gives a small bow in a greeting gesture. ] That is if you don't mind explaining why something not-so-human is suddenly appearing in a human populated area.
no subject
[She sheepishly rubs the back of her head. Although her face is hidden, her body language more than makes up for the lack of expression.]
Oh, so you can tell huh? Well, for one thing I'm human shaped right now, so I didn't think it'd be too big of a deal to make this city my stop.
[She's been told that in this form, her aura's a touch hazy and difficult to pinpoint a description to. In most cases, it was for the best.]
Anyways, if you wanna know how I got here, it's simple. I flew!
[She stands up, flapping her arms up and down as if to demonstrate or at least make the gesture of it.]
no subject
[ WELL... it's not like it's the first time someone not human tried to fly in this world. And admittedly, he thought of the greek legend of Icarus only... not a boy. Man, a lot of these legends are really off based on their living counter parts.
But it was enough to get him more curious to know just who he is speaking to here. Or to be more exact, what he is speaking to. In very quick and inhumane levels of grace and balance, the little king leaps from his current spot to land his feet right on top of the railings like a cat. And just like a cat, he continued to creep closer with obvious curiosity written all over his face... still unsure to either strike its prey or just play with it for a bit longer. ]
And well, if it makes you feel any better, normal humans wouldn't be able to tell the difference. It takes someone a little beyond typical humans to notice something is a bit off with folks like us. But when you say 'human shaped', I'm assuming that is because you're either at a weak state or you are binded to this human form for the time being, right?
Either way, I'd be careful if I were you. I hear there is a witch in the mountains that likes to pluck feathers out of birds for her creepy magic and an angry dog that doesn't like birds to take away his fish when he is trying to find some. They tend to be rather... unpleasant when they notice something is wrong.
But you may find the guard dog at the mountain very chatty to someone like you. I hear he likes birds a lot. The snake, the faker, the lion and the mad dog may be a little indifferent at best though. Just a fair heads up.
no subject
[She tilts her head (very birdlike in its movement) as he moves closer to her and at his lengthy explanation and description of the other residents of this city. Snake? Lion? Dog? Faker? Well, the first three she would have taken literally if not for the last one, so she figures it's one of those metaphor things people love to use a lot.]
There's nothing wrong with me though. You say those things, but I haven't given anyone a reason to pluck my feathers yet. That's a rude way to treat a potential guest you know.
[Brisa thinks back to what the boy just said about her being in a "weak state." Glancing down at herself, she then looks back up at him and shrugs.]
I'm small, but I don't know about weak. We're both the same size anyways, so it'd take one to know one.
[Despite being in the presence of what she can only assume is an obviously powerful being, she's rather blunt and unafraid. Just like herself, he's given her little cause to be cautious so far.]
no subject
[ Now close enough to being within arms reach, he squats down with the balls of his feet still perfectly balanced on the rails as he leans in close to being face-to-face with her mask. Mostly in a WHAT IS THIS THING?? kinda way. ]
Ha ha! Touche! I suppose I'll take that as a compliment if you're going to counter with a statement like that! But if you don't mind me asking... is there something wrong with your face? Normally the ones who try to hide them are either people with weird eyes, weird ears, or assassins. So I'm just trying to figure out which of those three do you fit in.
1/2
no subject
[He seems to have hit a sore spot or at least he finally caught her off guard with a question like that. She sounds incredibly indignant, reaching up to touch her mask as if being protective of it.]
I like this mask. It was a gift and so it's important to me. My human face is perfectly suitable otherwise! In fact, not only is it suitable, it's great!!
[Brisa, why do you have pride for such useless things. In any case, she mutters darkly.]
If you wanna see my face so bad, you could just ask. Geeeeeeez.
no subject
[ He does reach over to pat her head though in some feeble effort to calm her down from her outburst all while trying SO HARD not to break out in a fit of laughter. If anything, that does make him a little more curious to see her true features... but after that? It's probably enough to rub salt on the wound to not do so now. ]
Well if that's all that it is, then that's fine. You don't have to go into great details about your face though when you can show it to prove your point! But if you're offering now, would you show it to me? Just to see what makes it worth hiding behind a mask and all~!
no subject
I'll show you my face if we exchange names. Introducing ones self is important after all.
[Brisa gives an affirmative nod as if agreeing with herself.]
I'll start. You can call me Brisa.
no subject
[ He'll just repeat that name for a bit just to make sure he's got the pronunciation down and everything before nodding his head as if confirming this is the correct way. ]
Very well, Brisa. As for me, you may call me Gilgamesh. Most people also call me 'Gil' for short, but I don't mind either way. Whichever suits your fancy, really! I've learned to deal with one or the other when people from different places have a hard time pronouncing L's and R's... sometimes even adding U's for some reason. So if Gil is easier for you, stick with that.
no subject
[She says it slowly, also making sure she gets the sound of it right. To her, it's sort of a strange name. Almost grand, even, but it might come with the territory seeing as how she feels the power of his aura.
In any case, she reaches up and takes off her mask, revealing a pair of thick brows accompanied by two almond shaped eyes with long lashes. It's the color that's the most unnatural. Aside from the jewel pink hue, it's the most apparent sign of the non-human aspect of this girl.]
... Nice to meet you.
no subject
But for now, the other noticeable features with her eyes caught his interest too. Sure, they weren't red like his, Lancer's or Berserker's as proof of divinity in their bloodline, but it wasn't normal either. Perhaps a different variation of Mystic Eyes? This bird girl is really quite an interesting girl!
So how does he greet such an interesting girl? By being his usual self, and that is by climbing down from the rails to place an arm around her shoulders in a very familiar fashion like they had been friends for a good long while! ]
And nice to meet you too! Man, who would have thought something so interesting would be hidden by a mask that looks like it was crying? And a particular cute one at that? Well, no matter. Since you are here, you might as well be my guest until you are ready to fly off to wherever you need to go. That is, if you don't have a place to stay already?
no subject
Then again, he called her cute. It's probably not a bad thing?? Maybe??]
I was gonna make a nest somewhere. Maybe in the forest or even at the park. Both of those places aren't very comfortable though.
Are you just trying to keep an eye on me in case I cause a fuss?
[Gets to the point, doesn't she?]
no subject
Let's find out as he reaches with his other hand to gently take hold of that mask of hers to bring it up to eye level. Just to examine it, really! ]
The park would definitely be a bad idea. You'll be spotted in no time... and the forest seems pretty boring. At most, you'll be playing with the mad dog and his doll of a master if you get spotted there. So perhaps the church would be best after all!
... and something tells me I wouldn't have to worry about you causing a fuss, but if people see that you're with me, then they'll at least know to treat you with some respect. Congratulations, you're now considered part of the King's court~!
no subject
[She states her observation breezily with no real malicious intent behind it. It just is what it is. Her grip on the mask is firm, but she allows him to take it if he's just going to look.]
So basically, I get to stay where you stay...? Hm...
... Hey, what makes you a king anyways? Or will that be a tale for another day?
no subject
[ Even if she did, it's not like he's going to hide the fact that he's blatantly addressing those other
mongrelsheroes so rudely and like he's above them anyway. But now that his curiosity is sated for inspecting the mask, he'll just pull her along with him so that they'll be now walking along the bridge and towards the residential district area. ]Basically? Yes, that's it exactly. Although I hope you don't have a problem with sweets. The new head priestess tends to have a massive sweet tooth nearly at the same levels of a certain fellow I know that REALLY had a thing for mapo tofu.
And I would be more than happy to give you the details about my history, but for now, it's probably better to discuss that while we're on the move, right? At least until we're indoors somewhere before something unexpected happens like thunder and rain all of a sudden. I can't imagine that'll be fun for those feathers of yours.
no subject
[Whoops, being pulled along. Her gold earrings making a clinking metallic noise as they walk along the bridge. It's a good thing she's nimble as a human or else a normal person would lose their nerve at this height.
The ravens fly above them, watching the little king and the heavenly beast, perhaps amused by their midnight stroll.]
Thanks, by the way. I've been to other places, but there hasn't been a huge concentration of magically inclined beings that would be willing to help me out or tolerate my presence.
no subject
[ Funny thing though is that he did notice the ravens, but he couldn't piece together on why they would follow the two. He would have figured that they were regular birds that do bird things-- which includes flying away when big humans are around. So either they are familiars or this bird is a mama bird. Huh, and people thought Gil here looked young for his age. ]
Hm? Oh, no. Don't worry about it. If anything, I'm sure one of the others might lend you a hand... the rest might just try to poke and prod at you to see how you function. Magical experiments and all. [ And by that, he totally means Caster and her cosplay obsession. ]
By the way... are those yours or are they just making sure I don't take you into some place where bad things happen? Because this is the first time I've seen something like ordinary birds willing follow someone like this.
no subject
Them? They're not mine. I think they just like me because I'm unlike any bird they've known.
no subject
By the way, I just gotta know for sure. You have a human form and all, but do you have like a certain kind of diet? Like only vegetables, lean meats, things like that or can you eat human meals? Because chances are, we may need to pick something up during the trip back home.
... or stop by Onii-san's home just at the right time when he's cooking dinner. That actually tastes a lot better too.
no subject
Hm. [She looks thoughtful as she considers his question.]
Honestly, I can digest most anything that humans eat, but I have to say, I do avoid most meats and eggs... Seeds and berries are standard and if I remain as a blackbird, I'll eat insects.
[NO SHAME WHATSOEVER.]
But if I have to choose a human food I must absolutely have...
Bread. And the good kind too. Baked goods. Sweet, savory, if it's bread, I'll eat it.
no subject
Some people might take you for a weirdo or a hobo. Or a weird hobo. Not generally got stigmas to have on you, you know? But since that is what we're working with, I suppose there should be SOME vendor shop open! [ He says as he passes by one of the various vending machines out in the open that may or may not have the said bread already packaged up. ]
But avoiding meats and eggs? Any particular reason? Or your stomach just can't handle it?
no subject
[That sounds... DELICIOUS... Her eyes light up with immediate interest as Gil mentions the unknown treat to her. In fact, she's way more interested in the vending machine with packaged bread in it that she doesn't even take the time to be offended by being called a weird hobo.
She will however, answer his last question as she peruses the food items.]
Well... Like I said, it's not that I can't eat them. I guess it doesn't feel right.
[Meat especially brings up bad memories and bad feelings in general.]
If I have to, I will. But I think it's avoidable and it's not a vital part of my diet.
no subject
Hoh? Did that catch your interest after all? Mm... I suppose it's best to try one now and see if we can go to a bakery tomorrow when its light out. Now let's see...
[ And well, at least that's good to know facts. At least maybe Shirou would make something vegetarian in case another accidental member of his growing collection decides to roost there instead of at the church. Aaaand now he's going to slip in some coins into the slot and push some buttons for the melon bread to start dispensing. ]
Me, personally, I think I have very rich tastes myself. But eating snacks like these is okay once in a while, but I am REALLY really spoiled when it comes to food, personally. It just has to be cooked and made with perfection, you know? But then again, that's just probably because of being born with richer tastes to begin with.
[ Aaaand boop. The melon bread has now fallen into the chute for him to reach in and grab in order to hand it to Brisa. Kind of showing how technology works and all. :U ] Anyway, here you go. Give this a try and see what you think.
no subject
[Brisa please...
She accepts the bread after watching how Gil retrieves it with interest. Human technology is rather quaint! But, anyways, bread.
There's a little nibble to taste. Her eyes light up and she takes a huge bite.]
Sweet! It doesn't taste like melon at all, but it's sweet!
no subject
Although... [ He taps his chin in thought now that he has taken notice of her obvious pleasure in such simple things. THIS KIND OF REMINDS HIM OF A LITTLE SOMETHING A GOOD TEN OR SO YEARS AGO. ]
Well, you're no Kirei, but you are an interesting person all the same. If something simple like this is enough to spark a bit of pleasure to you, then there is a whole world of things you'll need to experience! I suppose as long as you're staying around here, I can be your guide to that until you decide to leave.
no subject
[Brisa replies, but it's with a face stuffed full of melon bread.
Pause.
Okay, she nods, so Gil you can assume that she's agreeing with what you said! She needs a place to stay and someone who knows the city well, especially since it was such an abnormal place to begin with.]
no subject
[ Well, unfortunately Brisa's foodquest will have to wait just for a while longer, but since she is content to just the melon bread already, he figured stopping by to get ramen or something may be stretching it too much.
Or a trip to the convenience stores. Those are always exciting in some way! So he resumes with the whole arm around the bird shoulder's kind of deal to help pull and guide her along to their destination. ]
Great! Glad we have that settled! Remind me tomorrow morning that I need to show you some of the highest places in this town. I remember a fellow and I chatting on top of a bridge some time ago, and the view from it looked pretty good. Maybe that could be a place for you to get your bird's eye view of the city once you've gotten some proper rest!
But what to actually DO in the city? Hm... I suppose going to the water park should be okay to start with.
no subject
[Sorry, mouth still stuffed with bread here. Brisa dusts her sugared and sticky hands off on her dress while glancing at Gil with a questioning look in her eyes.]
no subject
I suppose in this case, it's easier to show than tell. I wonder if you'll like wearing a one piece or a two piece swimsuit? Or a preferable color?
no subject
[She may or may not have seen something along those lines during her travels. Brisa looks down at herself and shrugs.]
Well, one thing at a time. I gotta settle down first, remember?
its still burd time, isn't it? ;w;
Besides, it's not like finding you a place is going to be too much of an issue! It's just a matter of how long you plan on staying here is another thing.
[ He motions his head over to get her attention as he points to the opposite side of town-- literally right across the many bridges to the residential part of Fuyuki and on the higher hilly spots. May as well be pointing at trees and bushes from a distance. ]
Anyway. I wonder if your bird's eye view still works while in human form? Do you see that church over there? That's where we're going, and that's where you'll be spending the night at.
no subject
Mmmm. Yeah, I think I see it. It's smaller than I thought.
no subject
By the way, Brisa. If a particularly strange lady with white hair, amber eyes, and dressed like a nun approaches you for any reason while we're in there-- just fly away. Fast. I'll catch up with you later.
[ And this is where Gil starts to activate another Noble Phantasm straight out of his treasury: Timeskip. Shall we do the timewarp? ]
no subject
Because in the end, Brisa... is on the roof of the church. It looks like whether she's a bird or a human, she doesn't stay away from high places. She's wearing her mask again, making for a strange sight.]
no subject
You know, the more you stand out here is the more likely chance that you'll catch a cold. Even magical beings get sick, after all.
no subject
I don't think I've ever gotten sick before. Not as a human anyways.
no subject
[ Although that head swaying back and forth did leave him an impression that she's either an airhead or someone who is really relaxed and easy going. Either way, not a person who seems to have too much high expectations to have! ]
no subject
Do people actually go to this church for worship? It doesn't strike me as a particularly busy place if you don't mind me saying.
no subject
And actually, not often. But it's still a place of worship and you never know who drops in for what reason. Even the former head priest of this church wouldn't turn down a visitor... it's just the fact that sometimes they don't want to come back after coming by the first time. Kinda strange, really.
no subject
[Brisa's under the impression that it isn't possible since she's a grown bird at the very least...]
This place is pretty nice though. I like the view from the roof and I like all the plants that are inside the inner courtyard.
no subject
[ He does, however, shifts into his physical form-- one that involves him just casually laying down on his Vimana that also appeared as he did that is hovering/parked right next to the roof of the church. Totally something normal, you know. ]
If plant life is your thing, there is a forest out in the backways on the other side of town. Supposedly there is a little spoiled princess who keeps a massive mad dog as her only friend there, but I think as long as you're not doing something strange then you can have fun in the forest too. And by strange, I mean not being suspicious at all.
no subject
You've mentioned a lot of other people, but since you're here right now... Well, can you tell me more about yourself? Since you're a king and all? What's a king doing in this place anyways?
no subject
Now then, about myself... I am, as I said, a king! Formally speaking, I am known as the King of Heroes. In this land, that would be the eiyuu-ou... or A.U.O. if you wanna fit in with the crowd. As for what I am doing here, first I was actually summoned because of mages for a silly little farce of a war. Since then, I've decided to watch over the people and this world of this era for my personal reasons.
Now my turn! Why do you feel like you should hide your face all the time? I like to think that I am pretty familiar with myths and legends of all kinds of civilizations, but I'm still baffled at the design work of that. Or what you are exactly, for that matter. You're quite the little mystery yourself.
no subject
[She repeats the title, trying to see how it sounds when she says it. It's... Grand, but also kind of unbelievable (this coming from a bird that transforms into a human). Gilgamesh explains it simply enough; Brisa isn't surprised that it would be humans who would be involved in his being here, but now Gil's become part of the world he was brought into. Interesting.
At his inquiry, she turns to look up at the sky, taking a deep breath. Where to start...?]
Like I said, this mask is a gift. There's nothing special or magic about it. It's just a toy from a friend... My first gift in a long while...
[So she basically wears it for fun, like a child who wants to play dress up. But it's kind of clear that she isn't quite a child, whimsical as she is.]
And as for what I am... I'm a bird. A really old one.
[Brisa takes off her mask so she can feel more of the night breeze on her cheeks and through her hair.]
There's a lot of blank holes in my memory, but I've been recovering some vital parts... I lived long before humans started to congregate, that's for certain.
