There's a lot Ai would still have to learn about in terms of being human. After all, for most of her life, there was no real instruction on such a thing. All she had learned was to listen and obey while having to deal with whatever leftover humanity or rather, unearthliness that remained in her soul from her past life.]

We fought and hurt each other... That was probably one of the hardest times in my life.

[Looking back on it, it made her heart ache, but not in a bad way. Their hurtful words was the bitter medicine that allowed them to see each other with clearer eyes and clearer minds.]

Um. Hiro? Do you want to know why I started to like you so much?

It wouldn't had been the first time I've hurt someone. I've had to beat up Otome once before, y'know.

[It sounded very out there from how casually Hiro said it, but he didn't do it out of malice. If he couldn't fight everyone with his full strength, then he couldn't get them to understand him and see that there was more than one way to handle the Polaris Problem. And considering they were going all out too, Hiro felt it would've been a disservice to hold back his full potential.

Then there was the fact that he was a naturally competitive person and hated to lose. A little switch would always go off in his head when a challenge was presented to him and that override his reason at times.]

Hm? [He's honestly never put much thought into the why, so he was rather curious.] Go ahead and shoot.

[WELL, that's a story to be asked about another day. Ai furrows her brow in confusion for a second when he mentions Otome, but decides to ask him about it later if they still have time. She clears her throat and pulls back a little so that they're looking at each other.]

Well, at first, I didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted from someone that I was going to like. Maybe I had some notions, but a lot of it was just fantasy in the end.

[Like for instance, the idea of being completely swept away on her feet or a storm of passionate emotions would hit her out of nowhere when she saw, "the one." It didn't happen that way though.]

You were first and foremost a friend. And then you became a friend I wanted to have fun with and then a boy who I could endure anything with. We had fun and we struggled together.

[Ai Thao takes his hand in both of hers, bringing it to her face so she can lean her cheek into his palm affectionately.]

And you didn't coddle or spoil me. You were just yourself and I was just myself. But we were growing next to each other and that feeling of liking you just came along with that.

[He certainly flirted with plenty of girls and might've joked around about who would be the best wife out of his group of friends... Even considering turn them all into his personal harem too. But he's never seriously considering settling down. His thoughts were geared for everyone's survival along with his own personal survival. There was no time for romance on the battlefield in his case.

[Hiro didn't look very bothered when he says this. There was no self-decapitation in his tone... Just pure honesty as he rubs her cheek with the hand that she's holding.]

It really is isn't it? I think that's a relief though! It means I'm normal despite being... Well. Me!

[She's a powerful esper, but she's no one else, but herself. Even if that 'self' was the copy of another woman, the life she's lived up until this point was hers alone.]

At least... Well, I did call you a pervert in public... We're both weirdos.

[There's a small beep in the background which will probably go unnoticed for the time being, but it is the AC turning on and making the temperature a tad bit cooler than it should be...]

[He says this so matter-of-factually like a teacher who's correcting a student. Is this really the time for this, Hiro? You just sort of called yourself an idiot a second ago...

Regardless, he absentmindedly looks at the ceiling. Holding someone close wasn't something that was new considering that he had to do that often to people during the Trials. But reminding himself of human warmth was still so very nice and to fulfill Ai's biggest wish like this was easy for him to do. He was a god, after all.]

You know... You told me that you were an esper, but have you ever once read someone's mind?

[His question gives her pause. Ai draws back slightly, placing her hands on her legs as she considers what kind of answer to give.]

Only when I was really little. But it wasn't one person's mind. I didn't have any control over my mind reading so I could hear voices all around me. Right now, I can't hear anything; there's a whisper here and there, but I barely notice them anymore.

[And then she points to her chest, in the area slightly below her collarbone.]

You can't see it, but there's a seal here. A magic user marked me so that I'm not at full power. I've always been running on half of it.

[And with a blankish neutral face, he looks down to her chest... What was going through his head right now?

[Innocently smiling, Hiro leans down to her chest and presses his lips against that area for a short little peck. It was an unexpectedly bold move, but hey... He didn't have a look of shame on his face for doing something that. That or he was hiding his embarrassment very well.]

Her heart is beating faster, there's no joke about that. She freezes, unable to respond when Hiro kisses her chest and when he moves away, the esper could swear that there's still traces of him left, a wickedly warm spot.

Both of Ai's hands move to cover her chest as her face turns completely red.]

[THAT'S DANGEROUS! is what she wants to say, but she finds she can't spit it out.]

That's...!

[She takes a DEEP BREATH. And then declares...!]

I'll have to to get you back for that one!

[That was worth it. Totally worth it. The Administrator's lips curl into a devious little smirk.]

I'd love to see you try. I can kiss you in other places than that, you know.

[What even is this!? Ai wasn't prepared for this kind of attack from Hiro, much less after they've allowed themselves this short time together to be a couple.]

Other... Places...

[Surprisingly though, Ai is looking thoughtful as she looks at her hands clasping her hands together before she shyly says...]

But we haven't even kissed for real yet. So... Those others places... Would have to wait...

[There's a pause as there's a faint hint of pink on Hiro's cheeks. His eyes widen in realization whenever she brings that up.]

--Oh yeah! I never thought about that! Lips should come first, shouldn't they?

[Ai nods, a little too quickly.]

A-at the very least, yes.

[It was hard to say if he was joking it not. But hey, Hiro certainly wasn't lacking in self-love.]

[She sighs and brushes his cheek with the back of her hand, lightly a somewhat playful, if subdued gesture.]

I'll take that as a no.

[In contrast, he is much bolder as he wraps an arm around her waist to bring her close again.]

[Oh, god why. The moment kind of slams into her like a truck as he wraps an arm around her and she instinctively covers her face before anything else happens. Not because she doesn't want to kiss, but rather she needs to slow down and give herself some room to think. Just a little.

Also, she hates that she can't control her blushing, that's seriously a problem.]

I. Um.

[Ai breathes into her palms before her blue eyes peek through her fingers at Hiro.]

It kind of hurts.

[There's a pause and then she continues, shyly.]

My heart, I mean. It's beating too fast.

You're making it sound like a heart attack. [A beat.] But I think that's pretty normal! My heart's beating pretty quickly too!

[Though it's hard to tell considering he's looking unusually composed with that smile on his face. It's not that he wasn't feeling anything towards any of this. Hiro assumed that his heart was racing since he was about to do something fun. Fighting demons and aliens? Despite the horrors he experienced... It was fun. Making all kinds of new people and making friends with them? That was fun too.

Spending time with Ai and being ready to do something like this? Self-explanatory.

With that said, he's just going to reach out and gently peel off one of the hands on her face. He knows that he can be much bolder than this, but he didn't want to scare Ai away.]

If you don't hurry up, then I'm gonna get bored and leave. My attention span is pretty short, y'know.

[Stop being a weenie, Ai.]

[And then suddenly...

There's one hand pressed against his chest, where his heart is. Ai wants to feel the beating beneath her fingers as she finally, FINALLY, summons up the courage to lean in first, almost too quickly, and press her lips against Hiro's. It's a warm and soft sensation and it was almost hard to grasp and register at first, but it is unmistakably, a kiss.

And then the world stood still.]

[His eyes widen whenever he felt her fingertips against his chest, then they suddenly grow even wider from the warmth against his lips. It was difficult to say what was going through Hiro's head in that moment.

But whenever it finally register what she was doing... He realized that this was the answer that he wanted. It felt like giving her that small push forward worked perfectly. And frankly, it gave him the urge to push himself forward too.

It's about time. He thinks as he tighten the grip around her waist and brings her closer. Hiro wasn't sure how long he was sitting there, but he shuts his eyes and finally returns the kiss on his end.]

[For a second, Ai almost thinks this is just a dream. There's no way that the feeling is this mutual, there's no way her feelings are being reciprocated so sweetly, with the one who made her heart hurt and beat the most.

But it's true. She feels him pull her closer, she feels the warmth spreading from their lips to her shoulders, to her very center, until she finally draws back to breathe, still close to Hiro.

And she doesn't say anything. Her head rests on his shoulder and she's breathing softly as if trying to gather her bearings again.]

[He's always imagined being kissed and doing the kkissing as a passing fancy, but never thought that it'd be happening right now. Considering what he was, Hiro knew that romance was not exactly on the list of priorities... But for this girl, he could make an exception.

For now, he decides to stay quiet within their embrace and wondered what else he could do from here? She did say that it would be okay to kiss her in other places, right? Hiro had to wonder what kind of sounds she'd make if he kissed her--

Wait a minute.]

Um... Is it just me or is it gettin' really cold in here?

Ah!

[Ai looks up and now that he mentions it, there's a lot of cold air and it brushes against the back of her neck, even through her long hair.]

The air conditioner has been running for a while... I-I should get that.

[And so she stands up (giddily), to turn down the dial, but also glances at the clock.]

It's... Getting late too. [She doesn't want to ask, but the question hangs in the air; on whether Hiro would stay over or not.]
