OPEN-ISH? ⇒ VIVA LAS VEGAS

[Amelia was never quite sure how her local bartender of Red Divine and sort-of friend, Libby Mendez, could rope her into doing the most outrageous things; first there was that bachelorette party with the stripping firemen (Amelia had to interrupt the performance when she discovered that one of them was an incubus eager to feed on the prospective bride), next was a mysterious masquerade ball in New York (which turned out to be a soiree for a large group of vampires-- that one almost ended nastily), and now this. Las Vegas, Nevada.

What was worse THIS time was that Amelia (dressed appropriately for Vegas nightlife much to her disdain) lost sight of her friend in the crowded streets of the city. A timely text from Libby, however, assured her that she was in one of the casinos trying out her luck. Amelia was left to explore by herself.

Of course nothing else could go awry on this night right? Then again, the Emerald Witch felt that a 'normal' night in Vegas wasn't exactly what she would be expecting...]

I'll have to take your word for it then. [She doesn't want to be overheard, so Madigan may feel some odd force as if there's an invisible bubble where only she can hear Amelia and no one else outside the bar area can]

My abilities... Well, it's probably something unheard of if I understand correctly. At least for a woman...? Ah, yes that's what I was told.

[griffonix]

[ Mads just grins ] You're a witch, aren't you?

[Heeeeeeeeey wait a minute. She blinks surprised.]

Well. That was easier than I thought.

[griffonix]

Something about the way the enchantment that keeps us hidden works means that we get the odd wanderer from another world.

[recluserose]

So I take it that it happens often then?

[griffonix]

Let's just say you're not the first witch to walk through my door, and you're probably not the last.

It seems this isn't your first visit to this world, either.

[recluserose]

This is just the second time. In any case, at least I don't have to explain myself too much.

[griffonix]

I like to keep things simple.

[recluserose]

I appreciate that more than you can tell.

[griffonix]

I suppose that explains why you had questions, though.

[recluserose]

I actually was told about this club, but aside from what it entails, I didn't know much to begin with.

[griffonix]

You were?

[recluserose]

Yes. I had questions about how magic worked in this world and along with the basics, I was told that this place specialized in a particular skill set.

[griffonix]

We call them talents, actually. The boys get their specialties, us girls have talents. It makes it at least seem like we didn't the short end of the stick.

[recluserose]

From my point of view, the divide is interesting although maybe there is a certain divide where I'm from as well. It's not as obvious though.

[griffonix]

Do tell.

[recluserose]

Witches from my world are the ones who usually have the reigns on the magic community. There seems to be more powerful witches than there are wizards, but whether there hasn't been a talented in centuries or the older witches really are good at keeping their power.

Then again, I never asked. I like to keep to myself and not get involved with that sort of business.

[griffonix]

[ a sigh, and she rests her chin in her hand ] That must be nice.

[recluserose]

Perhaps. But they can get very vicious when they see fit.

I experienced some of that viciousness firsthand seeing as how they didn't see me as a genuine witch. Some of them still don't.

[griffonix]

Why wouldn't they see you as genuine?

[recluserose]

I wasn't born a witch. No magic in my veins, no special power-- nothing.

But I was given an offer.

[griffonix]

... Well, that's the first time I've heard of something like that.

[recluserose]

So I've been told. It's a tale of spontaneity and a little girl who had no idea what she was getting into.

[griffonix]

Do you regret it?

[recluserose]

Sometimes.

But I do the best with what I was given and at least it's never quite boring. I mean, how else would I end up in a club like this? [Gestures around her]
