Nn.

[Just a non-committal noise this time, but she does use one hand to push her glasses up so that they're sitting on the top of her head when he starts playing with them. Right now, McClane and Hans are having their first face to face encounter, but Lien's not quite paying attention at that current moment.

This is heavy. But having someone next to her and just sharing a simple moment in time like this was a pleasant sort of burden. This normally wouldn't happen with her. Magi already shut out enough unnecessary people in their lives, but Lien did that even more. She even shut out her own twin at some point even though she convinced herself it was for the best. She tried to convince herself about a lot of things even before she met Cu Chulainn, but sitting here now, Lien knows she's just been lost, but refusing to find direction because wanting something meant she'd get hurt and she didn't know if she ever really healed from the moment she woke up in that horrific room 10 years ago.

John McClane's and Hans Gruber's laughter snaps her out of her reverie; look, she doesn't want to miss the climax, it's great stuff.
]

Oh! We're almost near the end.

[Outside, the low rumble of thunder can be heard and the rain is beginning to come down harder. Her head sinks into Lancer's shoulder some more almost naturally.

... It's annoying. Lien wants to squash down those faint whispers, wishing for the impossible. But that resolve weakens because even though her future is uncertain, the present moment is just too good to resist.

[ For Lancer, things boil down to whether or not he can make things easier for Lien in the long run, and he believes that yeah, this will help her. He's not fatalistic, even if he's aware of a lot of futilities that come along with...being him, really. A lot about his life is ironic, but he doesn't confuse his life with hers: she deserves something a little upbeat.

He barely notices the threat of a storm under all of these explosions and gunshots, pulls out his hairtie to let his hair fall loosely around his shoulders and against Lien.
]

Whoa, there he goes.

[ Hans is falling, falling... ]
psychometer: (But I LIKE Christopher Walken!)

Bye Gruber. You had a great silly accent while it lasted.

[She says this while her eyes glance ever so slightly at Lancer as he unties his hair. She quietly decides without much debate that she likes the way he looks when it's down like that.

Detective Lieutenant John McClane and his wife Holly McClane live to see another day and the credits begin to roll by the time all the characters that were still alive had their focus and the hero gets his well-deserved praise. Lien sits up straight and stretches out her arms and then stands up to take out the DVD.
]

So now, you know the tale of the hero who went through a tall building with a limited inventory and no shoes to save his wife and innocent bystanders. Fun times!

[She takes out the DVD and there's another roll of thunder...]

Ah, it's really bad weather outside isn't it? I wonder if Ai...

[There's a noisy crack of lightning and the lights inside the apartment suddenly blink, dim, and turn off altogether leaving the both of them in the dark.]

Oh. Damn!

[ He has to admit, he liked it. The movie, he means— and Lien's company by association (which is probably the more important of the two). He can still feel her weight resting on his shoulder, even when she pulls up and away, mingling with the scent of her hair.

Dangerous.

There'd be a comment about how Alan was a pretty great guy, and how he wants to ride a limo like the one Argyle had, but it's lost along with the lights.

Thank god heroic spirits can see well in the dark.
]

—Hey, what's going on here. Are we being attacked?
psychometer: (All I need is time)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-05-28 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Lien takes off her glasses, setting them on top of the TV.]

It's a blackout. When the thunderstorm's strong enough, it's enough to disrupt the lights and electronics around the area so we're gonna have to make do without those two for a while.

You know, like ye olden times. Let's see, I should have candles in the kitchen...

[Her eyes adjust to the darkness, but... - Ah, why not. She takes off one glove and concentrates on making prana run through the Circuits in her hand causing it to glow, illuminating the apartment slightly. Lien makes her way over to the kitchen, taking out some candles, placing them on the table, and lighting them up.]

There, that oughta do it.

[personal profile] lansaigh 2015-05-28 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Doesn't take much getting used to, not for me.

[ Imagine a world where faeries and mysticism were much more commonplace than lights and electronics: Cu's right at home in this storm, actually. He even opens one of the windows closest to him and sticks his head out into the rain like a big blue dog, blinking water out of his eyes before pulling back inside. ]

At least it waited for us to finish the movie, huh. Small favors.
psychometer: (Mr. Blue Sky please tell us why)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-05-28 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
[She smiles at the sight of him sticking his head out in the rain before lighting another candle, bringing it over to the couch area to spread the light more evenly. The candle's warm glow illuminates her face and even her eyes.

After placing the candle on the small table next to the couch, she plops herself down, looking at him expectantly.
]

What did you think? It's your first movie after all.
lansaigh: (13.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2015-05-28 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ And he follows her over, slightly-moist head and all, to flop back down in his previous perch. ]

An honest opinion?

The movie was fine, but I also had a good view of your cleavage.

[ what the FUCK ]

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-05-28 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, wait. I'm supposed to do this aren't I?

[With a halfhearted sigh, she reaches over and baps him on the forehead with the palm of her hand.]
lansaigh: (9.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2015-05-28 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
What? I was just being honest. I thought that flies fine with you.

[ He receives the bap, even if he feels like all he was doing was giving a compliment?! He probably deserved it though, despite everything. ]
psychometer: (Gotta know reverse psychology)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-05-28 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Shaking her head, so much judging here!!]

You can be honest, but even I know there's consequences to that. Besides, that's a line a caveman would use.

[There's another rumble of thunder and Lien glances out the window.]

... Ah. Too bad I can't call Ai to check up on her.

[She knows her twin's fear after all.]
lansaigh: (4.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2015-05-28 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ He grumbles under his breath, but leaves it at that. Lien's second statement is cause for a little more attention, anyway. ]

If you're that worried, I can sniff her out and see what the little lady's up to.

[ It won't be difficult, since he can still sense Diarmuid from a good distance away. ]
psychometer: (I don't like you that way.)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-05-28 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
She'll be fine. [Especially since Diarmuid's there.]

Thunderstorms aren't her favorite, but since she isn't alone, it might be better to let her be.

[With a quiet sigh, Lien lifts one leg up so it's laying on her side of the couch and resting the remaining part of her body on the opposite side. She lays her head in her arms, long hair sprawled out across her shoulders and her back.]

Once the storm's over, it's back to work I guess.

[Ah, the ever lingering Grail War. Lien takes it more seriously than one would think despite her leisurely tendencies. And considering what's happened in the past few days between her and this Servant... It was best to keep on track.]

Don't sound too excited.

[ He says, not that he's overly enthusiastic about the War himself. There's nothing he stands to gain from it, aside from the fighting and the granting of a physical presence in this world, the latter of which he's taking advantage of quite gladly.

Perching on the armrest of the sofa, he watches Lien rest on her side, a little amused at their collective lack of a real agenda.
]

Whatever'll happen will happen. Don't worry that little head of yours too much.
psychometer: (Hypothetically what would you do...)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-05-29 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's worried though. Lien isn't supposed to want anything. Now that she's aware of how strong that "want" is, it's a matter of clarifying it. She has a feeling she knows what it is, but the answer isn't going to be desirable.

But their time is limited; unknown, but limited. There are things she can still do, things that she can't replicate with another person once this one next to her is gone. And maybe that's why she should...

A soft sigh escapes from her lips. It's silent for a moment or two as the rain outside continues to drum against the concrete streets and buildings of this modern city.

And then, something unexpected comes out of her although she doesn't look at Cu as she suddenly says:
]

You know what?

You were a really cute kid back then.
lansaigh: (14.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2015-06-02 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[ Well. That's unexpected, and he casts his red, red eyes to where she's still resting, one brow arched up in surprise and his lips caught between wanting to frown or part in barely-concealed disbelief.

Cute. Okay, this is new.
]

...What, aside from the dog-killing and the womanizing? [ He scratches his chin, buying himself some time. ] Yeah, I was a perfect angel.

[ He knows that that's not what Lien means, but. Well. ]
psychometer: (Fridges are wildlife reoccurences!)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-06-02 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
You don't have to be an angel to be cute.

[She pulls herself into a normal sitting position again, albeit with one leg up so she can rest her chin her knee as she glances at him.]

Me, being a prime example of course.
lansaigh: (10.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2015-06-02 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ Alright, this he can work with. He turns so that he's sitting on the armrest with his feet on the couch cushions, leans in so that they're almost nose to nose. ]

What, so now you're just using this as an excuse to butter yourself up?
psychometer: (I don't like you that way.)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-06-02 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh. Oh.

Yeah, I'm definitely at fault here, she thinks. She keeps a calm front even though she feels her raising heartbeat and the slight blush in her cheeks (she prays to god that the candlelight isn't enough to show that or that her hair is covering it, just please.)

Lien replies lightly with a light tilt of her head.
]

Am I?

[There's a second or two of consideration before she reaches up with one gloved hand to lightly brush aside some stray stands of Lancer's hair as she solemnly, but earnestly says:]

I'm not sure what I'm doing.
lansaigh: (13.)

[personal profile] lansaigh 2015-06-02 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ He's close enough that he can hear her breath hitch for just a moment, and he's sure that if he listens closely enough, he can hear the beat of her heart: Hound instincts.

How lightly does he take an action that he's done many, many times, but in reference to a girl who's always kept people at arm's length?

The answer is that he doesn't, he treats his trajectory to Lien's lips with the same weight he holds for everything, which is simply and with conviction.

What he gives her is a kiss, no more and no less.
]

Trust me, it's better that way.
psychometer: (Mister Sandman bring me a dream)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-06-02 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[It was that simple, but that effective because it definitely clarified something.

Her eyes widen at the kiss and for a minute she's unable to think of anything to say...
]
psychometer: (Moon river wider than a mile)

[personal profile] psychometer 2015-06-02 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
[... Because if she did, it wouldn't be enough. She puts her leg down with her hands in her lap; a very shy reaction. But then Lien looks up, smiling warmly and letting out a light laugh.]

That's dangerous.

But I liked that. It was definitely better. Better than my first.
