i want you to know that i almost tagged this on my kirei account
[ And he jerks a thumb over to the wall where he heard that noise from. ]
...But I might give your sister a heart attack, so I'm laying off.
i cannot rejoice anymore...
She's been relearning spells using her Eyes right? Like, cramming them all into her mind so that she can be more well equipped for the war.
... I just don't want her to overdo it. She keeps pushing herself and won't say a word about it so I hope she hasn't been trying to do that thinking you wouldn't notice.

[ Maybe she has, maybe she hasn't— he's not quite sure how her magic works, so he looks a little curious. ]
How would I be able to tell if she has been?

[Ai leans against the railing again, looking thoughtfully at her feet.]
Since her Mystic Eyes aren't of the common variety, Lien would get requests to study and verify objects or people, usually the former. It was how she earned and saved up money for the both of us. But it's taxing as you can imagine. Sometimes she'd stay passed out for a few days...
It hasn't happened for a while though. I tell her not to do that anymore.

[ A thoughtful tap of his feet on the ground, once, twice, before he shrugs. ]
Chances are she won't listen to me even if I tell her to cut that kind of thing out, though.

[ Cu?! ]

It's just... Sometimes, I think she doesn't want me to be worried. She wants me to focus on myself because she sees herself as a burden.
no subject
You're both not gonna go anywhere if you stand around pretending to know what the other one thinks.
1/2
Still... In the end, I think this is the happiest I've ever seen her.
[Ai wonders if Lien will be able to display that in the future.]
It's good. That's all I needed to know.
no subject
[Had Lien been listening this whole time? She only caught parts of the conversation after being flustered by Cu's words about her. And maybe what Ai just said.]
Ai, you should probably stick to Diarmuid before he thinks you like this Lancer more.
[Ai sighs, but takes the jab with good humor.]
no subject
What if she does? Maybe that'd finally give me an excuse to fight him, huh.
[ Cu?! ]
1/3
[YEAH SHE'LL FIGHT LIEN AND CU BOTH!]

[Lien!?]
no subject
[She can't win.]

[ Diarmuid looks this way, furrows his brows. What's going on over there... ]
1/2
F-Fine, I'll leave you both alone, I get it! You don't have to pick on me!
[She heads in the direction where Diarmuid is, but not before turning to Cu and pointing at him imposingly.]
Don't think you're the only one who's protecting her! Got it?!
[AI OUT!]
no subject
She's scary, huh?
no subject
[ A hand goes on Lien's head, ruffles her hair roughly. ]
That's part of the charm, I'd say.
no subject
Am I now? That's a new one.
Just one of the things that you could have said to give me a heart attack I take it?
no subject
And after it comes and goes, he reaches out to put a hand over Lien's heart. The gesture is surprisingly simple. ]
Nah. I can still feel it beating.
no subject
... There's a lot of things I like about you too, you know. Like your hands.
[She pulls his hand to her cheek so she can cup her face with it, full of affection.]
I could name a few other things, but I need time to make sure I have enough to blindside you.
no subject
That's incentive enough for me to make it out of whatever this is gonna be alive. Most princesses are stingy, they only give you a handkerchief or something to remember them by— you're promising to stroke my ego, that's huge.
1/2
Ah. Well, aren't we strange princesses then...
no subject
Well! I made it back alive believe it or not.
[And the snark has rubbed off her...]
