I guess what I'm getting at here is that you really, really need to sharpen your focus and your senses so that when you use what you have, it doesn't take a huge toll on your brain.
no subject
[That sounds....terrifyingly exciting, almost.]
no subject
[She crosses her arms, trying to think hard about this for his sake.]
In my experience, the more you hold back, the more you're in danger your powers backfiring on you because of one's inexperience of handling them.
no subject
Did you have similar problems when you were learning?
no subject
[At least she's honest!]
I do think it could minimize the damage done to your mind and body though. For me, it was a problem of me being a late bloomer. It wasn't that I didn't have any magic, it's just that I couldn't use it. So my case is a little different.
no subject
So your magic came to you slowly, is that what you mean?
no subject
She just nods.]
That's right. So if you take it slow and steady and just push the boundaries a little everyday, then you'll probably reach the goal of not getting knocked out after using a good amount of your ability.

[She calls out to the customers.]
No offense!!
[There's a, "None taken!" from a few of them who are more interested in getting their geometry done instead of listening in on the conversation.]
no subject
Right. So I'm on my own.
[He doesn't sound too bothered by that, ironically. He even tries to joke:]
Hey, maybe next time you'll see me, I'll be a karate master.
no subject
That being said, I bet I could still whoop your butt regardless.
[Iona, please.]

[A pause as she considers this...]
...
...
...
No, I still think I can.
no subject
It's either that or you don't think I'd put up much of a fight. Maybe we should bet on it.
no subject
[She crosses her arms and raises a brow w/ interest.]
I suppose whoever lands the first hit or gets the other person to the ground would be the winner.
no subject
[He cants his head, unable to hide his curiosity.]
I'd be up for that. I mean, it doesn't sound like anything too extreme, so...
[And really, he's still wondering how she hopes to get around his whole stopping time business.]
no subject
[She gives a small snap when she finally has an idea on what to give in return.]
Or if you're able to best me, I'll give you a free week of coffee or drinks! ♥
no subject
Free coffee? [He smiles.] For a whole week. I run on coffee, you know; there's no way I can pass that up.
no subject
[Iona please??]
no subject
[That makes him sound like a guinea pig......]
no subject
Oh, don't worry, it's nothing magical. We don't put magic in our drinks. Oren's good at making everything!
But what I do try is to have him make drinks from around the world so that people can try something new every now and then. Did you know in Portugal, they have an iced coffee with lemon juice in it? Crazy, huh? I live for that kind of stuff!
[The witch is practically glowing as she talks about drinks. Well, it makes her seem like a proper cafe owner at any rate.]
You know what they say! "Variety is the spice of life!"
no subject
I didn't know that.
[He had nothing against variety, but Iona seemed so courageous and bold about it. He's almost a little jealous.]
All right. I'll be the drink guinea pig if I lose. Or if I win. Either way, sounds like a winning situation for you. Sneaky.
no subject
... I might have just made that up, don't mind me.
no subject
[He shifts in his seat a little, becoming more comfortable in the atmosphere.]
When'd you want to try your hand at this bet? I imagine you're busy with school and the cafe most of the time.
no subject
That said an evening weekend might be ideal!
