You are in the town of Blackgale, specifically within the town's pride and joy, The Blackgale Rose Garden. Tonight the garden is basking in the soft glow from the full moon and stars, making the hundreds of white roses look especially luminescent.

This garden, however, is far from an ordinary garden.

That's sort of hard to miss when little bright pearls of starlight start falling from the sky like snow and disappearing once they hit the grass and flowers. Fancy a romantic date? A casual nighttime stroll? It's all up to you. Doesn't matter who you are or where you're from.

Oh yeah, and someone has magically set up a music player somewhere playing this song.

I had no magic talent to speak of when I was born. In fact, no magical background at all.

[spellbent]

So how does that explain the--? [ vague pointing motions, mimicking her style of magic ]

Hm, when was it...? 19... 1946. I was six years old and somehow I met a wizard who asked me if I wanted to be a witch.

[spellbent]

So he just made you one?

[recluserose]

He was powerful enough to do so, yes. I think he can world hop like you... I think. I honestly don't know, he's probably the most annoyingly cryptic man you'll ever meet. In any case, I accepted, so he decided to make me his student on a whim.

[spellbent]

I suppose there are worse things.

And if you were six in the 1940's, that makes you how old now? Assuming this world is in the same year as mine, that would put you in your fifties.

[Coughs a bit not uncomfortable about her age what are you talking about[

Ah... Fifty-six to be exact.

[spellbent]

[ It's probably rude to ask a lady her age, but Warren can't really bring himself to care ]

You're still young, then.

I suppose if you compare it to other witches and wizards, probably.

[spellbent]

Definitely. At least when compared to yours truly.

If you wouldn't mind, what's your age?

[spellbent]

You're half my age exactly, actually.

112. Interesting and oddly coincidental.

[spellbent]

I probably have another hundred years or so in me. Are wizards in your world similarly long-lived?

[recluserose]

Yes. Some of them forget to keep track of their age at times, but I would have to say the oldest one I know if is around 1000 years. My teacher might be the same.

[spellbent]

Mm. So you're even longer-lived than me and mine.

[recluserose]

I'm not sure if it's a good thing.

[spellbent]

And why not? Doesn't everyone want to live forever? [ he does, but that's beside the point ]

[recluserose]

... I'm not sure if that's what I want. Theoretically, it's possible to reach to a point where you're practically ageless, but it seems like a rather empty desire to me.

[spellbent]

To each their own, I suppose, but I've seen the sort of power an ageless wizard can possess. It's... impressive.

[recluserose]

And desirable to you I suppose?

[spellbent]

Of course.

[She takes a rather long sip of tea and for a moment her eyes look a bit glaze. Just for a moment.]

"Careful what you wish for."

[spellbent]

Hm. Prophetic. [ he almost rolls his eyes but, for once, thinks better of it ] It's not going to change my mind, though.
