I'M HERE
The cocoa looks like sludge, but he stirs it with a spoon to get it to be less... of a solid. ]
This better be good, you've made it sound amazing enough.
NAILED IT
[She stands up to go set up the DVD, but before that...]
Add some more milk to the pot. We're trying to drink that, not eat it.

[ Ah, what a good idea!! He does as suggested, and the whole effort looks slightly less disastrous and marginally more...edible. Success! ]
Alright, I'm ready. Let's see what this movie is made of.
[ And he flops down onto the couch, patting the fairly small space left remaining on it when he settles in. ]
no subject
Ah, such troublesome thoughts. Tonight's supposed to be low key and relaxing with a violent action movie to help round it out and the possible thunderstorm. Lien presses "Play" and it begins.]
Here it goes then.
[Her voice settles down and her eyes are glued to the screen.
Admittedly, it starts off slow at first. But since movies were a different medium of storytelling, it's as if several eyes were all over the place, introducing the people who were part of this convoluted scheme; Detective Lieutenant John McClane, his estranged wife Holly McClane (shown to be a firm and strong woman in her own right), the band of thieves holding the building hostage under the guise of an ideal, lead by...]
... And there's our Hans.
See, you don't have to compete with much.
no subject
Hans, though. He snorts, nudges Lien carefully with his elbow. ]
Probably would've taken it a little personally if I lost to this guy. Also asked you to go get your eyes checked.
no subject
[Lien glances at Lancer with that thinking look in her eyes again before focusing back on the screen, mumbling to herself.]
Make my life more difficult, will you?
[She's been noticing the obvious things and the little things. She's been looking. (Has there been another person she looked at? Was there anyone who looked at her...?)
Oh look, the action's really starting to escalate now. McClane, with his limited resources and zero armor and zero shoes to boot, is braving the tall building, a man against a veritable army of well-armed thieves and incompetent authority figures save for the one policeman on his side. Hans Gruber and McClane's conversation over the walkies-talkies ends with of course...]
"Yippee ki yay, motherfucker!"
[Lien sighs dreamily.]
You just don't get to say a line like that in everyday life.

So he scoots closer, tilts her a little forcefully to settle Lien's head on his shoulder. She can get mad if she wants, he's prepared to take it. ]
You're one strange little lady, you know that?
[ Not just because he doesn't know wtf the yippie ky whatever thing is. He sounds fond, though: pleased. ]
no subject
This. This is bad. Lien's not sure why that was the first thought that came up in her mind as Lancer makes her lean on his shoulder, but yeah. This is bad. The feeling, wherever it's coming from, is starting to bubble up dangerously.
She's able to reply, but it's fairly mild even for her.]
Um. Well, I'm a magus so I think that comes with the territory.
[Focus on the movie, focus on the movie, you already did something like this...!
Shit, her cheeks are feeling warm. She doesn't move from resting on Lancer's shoulder (she doesn't want to), but she does shift a little so her face is buried into her arms and her eyes are barely peeking from above, enough to continue watching the movie.
That is a LOT of explosions.]
no subject
But really, damn these are a lot of explosions. ]
Damn, these 'FBI' guys have no idea what they're doing.
[ He's as casual as can be. Jerk. ]
no subject
[Just a non-committal noise this time, but she does use one hand to push her glasses up so that they're sitting on the top of her head when he starts playing with them. Right now, McClane and Hans are having their first face to face encounter, but Lien's not quite paying attention at that current moment.
This is heavy. But having someone next to her and just sharing a simple moment in time like this was a pleasant sort of burden. This normally wouldn't happen with her. Magi already shut out enough unnecessary people in their lives, but Lien did that even more. She even shut out her own twin at some point even though she convinced herself it was for the best. She tried to convince herself about a lot of things even before she met Cu Chulainn, but sitting here now, Lien knows she's just been lost, but refusing to find direction because wanting something meant she'd get hurt and she didn't know if she ever really healed from the moment she woke up in that horrific room 10 years ago.
John McClane's and Hans Gruber's laughter snaps her out of her reverie; look, she doesn't want to miss the climax, it's great stuff.]
Oh! We're almost near the end.
[Outside, the low rumble of thunder can be heard and the rain is beginning to come down harder. Her head sinks into Lancer's shoulder some more almost naturally.
... It's annoying. Lien wants to squash down those faint whispers, wishing for the impossible. But that resolve weakens because even though her future is uncertain, the present moment is just too good to resist.]

He barely notices the threat of a storm under all of these explosions and gunshots, pulls out his hairtie to let his hair fall loosely around his shoulders and against Lien. ]
Whoa, there he goes.
[ Hans is falling, falling... ]
no subject
[She says this while her eyes glance ever so slightly at Lancer as he unties his hair. She quietly decides without much debate that she likes the way he looks when it's down like that.
Detective Lieutenant John McClane and his wife Holly McClane live to see another day and the credits begin to roll by the time all the characters that were still alive had their focus and the hero gets his well-deserved praise. Lien sits up straight and stretches out her arms and then stands up to take out the DVD.]
So now, you know the tale of the hero who went through a tall building with a limited inventory and no shoes to save his wife and innocent bystanders. Fun times!
[She takes out the DVD and there's another roll of thunder...]
Ah, it's really bad weather outside isn't it? I wonder if Ai...
[There's a noisy crack of lightning and the lights inside the apartment suddenly blink, dim, and turn off altogether leaving the both of them in the dark.]
Oh. Damn!
no subject
Dangerous.
There'd be a comment about how Alan was a pretty great guy, and how he wants to ride a limo like the one Argyle had, but it's lost along with the lights.
Thank god heroic spirits can see well in the dark. ]
—Hey, what's going on here. Are we being attacked?
no subject
It's a blackout. When the thunderstorm's strong enough, it's enough to disrupt the lights and electronics around the area so we're gonna have to make do without those two for a while.
You know, like ye olden times. Let's see, I should have candles in the kitchen...
[Her eyes adjust to the darkness, but... - Ah, why not. She takes off one glove and concentrates on making prana run through the Circuits in her hand causing it to glow, illuminating the apartment slightly. Lien makes her way over to the kitchen, taking out some candles, placing them on the table, and lighting them up.]
There, that oughta do it.
no subject
[ Imagine a world where faeries and mysticism were much more commonplace than lights and electronics: Cu's right at home in this storm, actually. He even opens one of the windows closest to him and sticks his head out into the rain like a big blue dog, blinking water out of his eyes before pulling back inside. ]
At least it waited for us to finish the movie, huh. Small favors.
no subject
After placing the candle on the small table next to the couch, she plops herself down, looking at him expectantly.]
What did you think? It's your first movie after all.
no subject
An honest opinion?
The movie was fine, but I also had a good view of your cleavage.
[ what the FUCK ]

[She makes the fist in hand motion.]
Joke's on you, I barely have one!

[With a halfhearted sigh, she reaches over and baps him on the forehead with the palm of her hand.]
no subject
[ He receives the bap, even if he feels like all he was doing was giving a compliment?! He probably deserved it though, despite everything. ]
no subject
You can be honest, but even I know there's consequences to that. Besides, that's a line a caveman would use.
[There's another rumble of thunder and Lien glances out the window.]
... Ah. Too bad I can't call Ai to check up on her.
[She knows her twin's fear after all.]
no subject
If you're that worried, I can sniff her out and see what the little lady's up to.
[ It won't be difficult, since he can still sense Diarmuid from a good distance away. ]
no subject
Thunderstorms aren't her favorite, but since she isn't alone, it might be better to let her be.
[With a quiet sigh, Lien lifts one leg up so it's laying on her side of the couch and resting the remaining part of her body on the opposite side. She lays her head in her arms, long hair sprawled out across her shoulders and her back.]
Once the storm's over, it's back to work I guess.
[Ah, the ever lingering Grail War. Lien takes it more seriously than one would think despite her leisurely tendencies. And considering what's happened in the past few days between her and this Servant... It was best to keep on track.]
