Ai was letting the sound of the yacht's engine and the sound of the waves wash over her in order to clear her thoughts that consisted of worries and doubts on the topic of what she and Lien had drank themselves silly over in the first place.

Seeing her sister so close with someone else was weird. And considering who that someone was Ai's just full of questions. Like. Why?? Maybe the reasons were more obvious than she would think, but still, it troubles her. Lien didn't tell her anything because she didn't want Ai to worry about her.

Of course she would worry especially at a time like this. Idiot.

She's so lost in thoughts that she doesn't hear or sense Cu coming up behind her even though she'll definitely have some choice words in a few minutes. ]

[ They're in the middle of enemy territory, as far as Cu is concerned, boxed in by the sea and headed for an indefinite destination. So he finds it, in his heart of hearts, slightly exasperating that the twins are so nonchalant about their current situation.

So he takes the opportunity presented, taps Ai between the shoulderblades with Gae Bolg before he gets right up in her personal space: close enough that he's almost resting his chin on her head. ]

[She whips around and takes a few steps back, arms up, and fists out as if readying herself for a fight.

(Lien, meanwhile has raided the mini-fridge and found some fizzy apple cider, raising her brows at the sound of Ai's reaction while taking a deep gulp. Yup.)

Ai, is understandably, flustered and crosses her arms, eyes narrowed at Cu.]

I'm fine! I'm completely and absolutely fine! The sea doesn't bother me! In fact, I really like the sea and going to the beach!

[That is not the problem here Ai... Of course, she does ramble when nervous.]

[ Ai... what is this response! Cu blinks once, twice, then bursts out laughing at how transparent her nervousness is— really, could she be any more obvious?! ]

I don't have a lot of confidence in myself. I'm easily scared and it's not difficult to rile me up. Even if I'm someone one could say that, "Always tries her best," it's just posturing in the end, isn't it?

... Being a Master made me think that I could make actual steps that go forward; a challenge that would make me grow up more.

[Her cheeks turn pink as she buries her nose into her knees.]

Huh. You say "always trying her best" is posturing, but you'd rather go down trying than turning tail like a coward, right?

[ It's always been that simple for him: live like a storm, die on your feet. Have honor and faith in yourself, or perish trying. Messing up was always part of the process. His whole life was a mess, but he doesn't regret a moment of it.

He shifts on his feet, thoughtful, before he squats down right in front of Ai. His expression's settled into something marginally more kind, not teasing. ]

If it makes you feel better— not that this is about me trying to cheer you up— that kid? Good kid, but huge fuckup. You two are made for each other.

[What he says actually makes her relieved in spite of everything. Because maybe she just needed to hear the reassurance about how falling in love wasn't a bad thing from someone else. One could only convince themselves for so long before the doubts would creep in.]

If that were true...

[She murmurs that and then buries her face into her knees to hide her smile which she feels is way too much.]
